šŸ”¶ GoldPlanar GL2000

Just a technical question. Iā€™m currently driving my HD560s (120 Ohm impedance) with a ifi Zen DAC, would It be enough for the the GL2000 (60 Ohm) or do I need more power for a good experience?

lol seriouslyā€¦? I thought they were the manufacturer, thatā€™s pretty damn annoyingā€¦ pads change sound signatures to a significant degree changing their design will alter that as well, kind of wish zeos of hawaii had the D shaped pads to check out as well

I can run the GL2000 on my Hiby R5 player at 564mW per channel (32ohm) and can not turn up te volume half way before getting to loud.

I did have the Ifi Zen Can but it broke down on me last week, so currently waiting for new one.

The Zen Dac has 330mW per channel (balanced at 32 ohm) so I think they wil drive the headphone.

However the specs recommend 2000mW :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Correction: the specs also says they are 60 Ohm.

Those who got the D, do they sound better compared to the other pad? Would you agree on reviewer assessments on the bigger pads when compared to the D pads that were sent out or would you say d pads donā€™t meet up to reviewer opinion? I guess this would be hard to comment on either way not having both.

I also find it funny, itā€™s as if gold planar has been watching Zreviews and took note that z wants pads that look more like ears and that he seemed passionate about it. And boom, the D shaped pads go out.

well they just arrived, listening to my first song on them as i type this, the hip dac has plenty of power to make these extremly loud without even putting it on high gain, youā€™ll be fine with the zen dac

also, they are HUGE each ear has a mansion to itself inside these

Nice to know, thank you for your test.

I went back to the stock pads.

Not for the sound but just because they are leather and have memory foam which I like better over the D pads.

I canā€™t really tell a difference in sound signature to be honest. But that maybe has to do with me, thought is was cool to stand in front of big ass speakers in the club in my younger years.

What I can confirm is that the GL2k gets better! Ohh boy they get better! And im only halfway into the burnin. (Or my brain are messing with me)

Either way,

Where at first I liked the Sundara better with certain songs, now I donā€™t anymore. The Sundaraā€™s gonna have to go

Mine have also improved since they arrived. I let them play pink noise for nearly 24 hours and I donā€™t notice the same harshness I was originally getting sometimes with some percussion notes (YMMV, obviously - could just be me adjusting to it). I was somewhat unimpressed at first, but a couple of days later I can say that Iā€™m very happy with these. I just recently swapped from the stock D-shaped hybrid pads to a set of ZMF Auteur hybrid pads I already had. Theyā€™re more comfortable than the stock hybrids and I donā€™t feel like I lose anything with them. Maybe they add a bit more bass, or maybe thatā€™s just me, but theyā€™re definitely more comfortable.

Got my one 5 days ago from DD-Audio Store on Aliexpress. Came with exact same pads. Did not tried those yet, am very happy with listening to them on HIBI r5 (small bit of MSEB filters), DAC: SMSL m500, AMP: topping L30- no EQ (currently trying to configure native DSD playback in foobar2000 and music bee). So far I am very pleased how they perform with metal and rock music.

Exactly this! They get smoother.

Someone already has the rubber ring broken off between the cup and headband :expressionless:

Oh thatā€™s unfortunate. Looks to be an easy fix from a basic hardware store hopefully. But still at the price they are selling for, Iā€™d rather not have to look for an o ring for a 600 dollar headphone but it could be worse. Hopefully everything else holds up.

You know the Klipsch HP-3 of mine has a problem where a driver just falls off the head band. $1200 headphones do the same thing.

can anyone verify if any of the dekoni or zmf pads will fit these?

I have had the GL2000 since Saturday and have used them Balanced on the HibY R5, R6 2020 and Schiit Modius/Magnius Stack and all have played nicely. The real surprise for me so far is this has been the first pair of HPā€™s that played a version of the 1812 Overture with live canons amazingly. The GLs didnā€™t distort the canons at all. Also, the shimmering of cymbals is outstanding. I only have the FIIO FH7, ThieAudio Monarchs and Sundaras to compare right now. I do have a pair of Aeolus coming soon though.
This is my first impression, if these continue to improve I will be very impressed.

could you gives a detailed comparison with the monarch?
thank you so much,

I have ZMF Auteur hybrids on mine right now. They arenā€™t an exact fit like the stock pads, but they do fit.
