Iām not as skeptical about them as some people. I know when the Phantom came out a lot of people loved it. even without modding. And Linsould TinT series iems are much loved. And the Helios is a awesome headphone. im very interested with what they do in teh future
What version of te Aeons do you have again? is it the 2ās or the drop version? closed or open?
I will be keeping an eye on them just incase they pull a showstopper out of nowhere.
Aeon Open X. Though granted the new retuned versions are very similar to the open x now.
Are you talking about the Aeon 2?
no, thats the massdrop version. Aeon 2ās are red. Aeon Open X is retuned and takes some things from the aeon 2 open such as the pads and other smaller intricacies as well as the tuning pads actually benefit the sound quite a bit
Should add that the aeon isnāt as bright sounding as helios as the aeons have a treble roll off
Got my pair yesterday and had a quick listen. First impressions are - very detailed and a bit bright in the treble. Definitely the Helios are a bit less natural and detailed than my Erupts, but for the price it is pretty damn good! Iāll have to break them in and swap pads, I also took the 10 pads option and the ZMF Ori Suede separately. I hope there are pads that would make them less bright, because my ears are more āsensitiveā.

The sheepskins should dial in the treble a bit more for you. Donāt try the velours in that regard as it will lead to more brightness and perforated leads to sibilance. You can also use certain amp/dacs that will dial in the treble.

Nice glad you liked them. You could also try 1 ply of toiler paper. it worked for me. I think they sound best with the stock pads. changing pads threaten to alter their uniqueness. If one ply dont work for you try another

That works too ant but it will reduce quite a bit of the bass doing that alteration as it does for things such as the dt 990
The frequency charts ive seen on the web shows it only will effect the treble. not so much the bass. if you use a 1 or 2 ply. DIY heaven is one place that shows this
hmm, will dig around for those charts as thats interesting. Either way its a solution to brightness
I think also anything with a larger opening is going to bring the treble down a bit, as well as anything angled is going to shift how the sound hits your ear. Iād be very interested to hear thoughts on the ZMF Ori suedes as they are angled and much deeper than stock, on top of being suede.
The Helios driver is angled
Yeah, but the extra angle of an angled pad has helped, to my ears.
Still loving these, especially for EDM, techno, and synthwave. Also excels at bombastic classical-rock fusion (not sure what the technical genre name is: Two Steps from Hell, Hidden Citizens, etc.)
Still preferring the stock pads? I recently tried Brainwaves angled PU pads I had for my M40x, and they do similar things to the sound as the LCD pads that make these much less fatiguing for me.
Yes. I had tested most of the 10 sets that came with the Helios, and from a sound signature and comfort perspective, I think thereās a reason they chose the stock pads they did. Iāve found no reason to switch. Havenāt had any issues with fatigue (either listening or comfort).
Have a pair for saleā¦EU - Iād take 80 plus shippingā¦
Keep an eye out, there are some bargains to be had on the used market for these⦠especially since people arenāt familiar with the brand.
As someone who has bought and sold on eBay since 1998, let me just say: when dealing with an item or brand that is relatively unknown in the mainstream consciousness, the very last thing you want to do is put it on eBay⦠as an auction⦠starting at $10⦠with no reserve⦠in the summertime.
I just picked up one of these with 3 pairs of extra pads, in an auction that ran to completion, for US$42 shipped. The seller took a bath. It arrived safe and sound, exactly as advertised.
If it were Bose or Sony or Beats or Audeze, i.e., brands the public recognizes, I expect it would have done better, but to the average schmuck on the street, āWTF is a Harmonicdyne???ā
No-reserve auctions only work if the item is in demand and/or you are a high-feedback seller with an established auction-listing following, i.e., youāve cultivated consumer expectation by running weekly auctions on a regular basis for a long period of time. A one-off of an unknown brand item when youāve only got 20 or 30 feedback is going to bite you in the butt. Youāre better off listing as Buy It Now with Best Offer, or at the very least starting the auction at your minimum rather than 99 cents or $9.99.
