HD 600 or Sendy Aiva

I would avoid pure tube amps with the Elex, most tube amps are really designed for MUCH higher impedance headphones, so the bass can become pretty bloated.
I believe there is a tube amp designed with the Focals in mind (name escapes me, but it’s pretty bespoke), but your looking at >$2K.
Mine sound OK on the low impedance output from my Eddie Current ZDT Jr which is a SET amp, but higher impedance headphones get a lot more from it.
I predominantly use min off a Liquid Platinum which is a Tube Hybrid, and the best sounding amp I have for the Elex.

has anyone here tried the zmf ori or blackwood?

whats the most comfortable headphone you have?

That’s a real hard one since I am not the most sensitive to comfort as other people lol. What budget range are you thinking? I have many different headphones in different budgets that are comfy to me

probably around 500-800

Hmm, I really think the aeon 2 closed is hella comfy, hd660s are fairly comfy when you get them worn in. In that range though going off of what I own nothing else stands out as extra comfortable, it’s more decent after that in the 500-800 range.

what about ori or blackwood?

I don’t own them so I didn’t include them. They are decently comfortable but I don’t recall them being notably comfortable

damn, I’ve had these elex for about a week and a half. Theyve gotten better but can still only wear them with out pain for about 2-3 hours

Darn, it seems you are pretty sensitive then. Do they at least do what you want them to do sonically? Also is the headband causing the issue or the pads? If it’s the headband you can improve that somewhat easily but the pads I personally wouldn’t suggest messing with

its the pads, or the pressure of the headphones

Hmmm. Perhaps you could try and stretch them out by putting them on books or something?

ive pulled on them some

You need Meze Empyrean.

Well, that might be a bit over budget lol

Nah! Why put a price on comfort?

Hey I gotta say I find my warwick pretty comfy, can recommend for comfort

Make a review channel and only review comfort and that’s it (but that’s just z at this point so idk)

It’s funny… cuz the Elex/Clears are IMO the most comfortable headphone I’ve worn… but then something like the Aiva just pinches my ear in the wrong way… I end up having a similar experience to Bearryj with those… just ‘pain’ after half an hour or so… the ZMF pads definitely helps with that though.
