Help: K371 Questions

eh , the 6xx might have a better driver for me a hard to enjoy headphone without tubes. its to me a more amp dependent headphone. whiole the 58x can run on most things pretty well. and the 6xx does have more of the top end detail but for me at the cost of the enjoyment I actually get from the 58x. z’s discord also have a tendency to bandwagon and really take things out of proportion.

Actually, many prefer the 58x because the driver is very similar to the HD660s, which is much higher than the 6xx. The 58x has much better bass and low end extension.
The K371 is also a really good option.

The 58x doesn’t have the detail of the 660s, but a similar tuning

I still cant wrap my head around drivers being better it just seems strange, like I get planar and dynamic being diferent or estats but between dynamic drivers being so much better is strange

Right, similar tuning, not as much detail, but it does have good low end extension.

Like are you confused on how different dynamic drivers can sound different?

Yes

Not different but ‘‘better’’

Well they are designed and made differently, and also tuned differently as well

Rarely is something ‘better’. I tend to agree with Zeos that ‘different’ is a more accurate description of different drivers. Some drivers do certain things better than others, but rarely is something just better period.

Ye but how can 2 drivers with the same tuning, have one be better than another

In my experience VAT and customs charges are lower than what Drop’s EU warehouse was charging. Not in all cases but it certainly was for my 4XX and would’ve been for my LCX+SDAC if I hadn’t bought it during the closing sale. It depends on your country though since it’s a non-EU import.

there are things like materials, build quality , manufacturing, tuning, and size that goes into how a driver. and you can make a driver sound better mosly different from one headphone to the other based on those factors. a great example are the dt 770,880,990

Ya know I’m going to dip out of this thread lol, I feel like I’ve said what I wanted to say for the most part

just is it’s not just the driver that makes the difference it’s also padding tuning back type. cup material

Again, different. You have to take into account how the headphones are built and the pads as well, these all contribute to changing the sound. Why do people do pad swapping and modding so much with headphones, especially the T50 mods, i.e. Argon, which don’t sound close to the original headphones. Again, there are many different factors that determine sound.

It’s all trade off’s Planar/Electrostatic/Dynamic, for the latter your taking off Size/Weight/Shape/Stiffness of material and surround, weights of magnets, whether the magnet moves or the coil does, how many turns of what gauge wire on the coil.
Why would you expect one driver not to sound better/different than another.

since yoiur out in europ it will be pricey as hell so buying a 650 or a 660 straight from sennheiser or locally would probably be lamost just as expensive

I was talking about drivers that measure the same being better than another but ye

Uh oh I was hoping its gonna be like under 200 bucks (for the 58X and all the shit)

It depends entirely on where you live since different countries have different duty fees, VAT, and different cutoff points for when you start paying them.
