HiFi Guides IEM of the year poll 2024

Hello guys,
This is a follow up on the poll I made last year, that turned out quite well if you ask me (and I am obviously not biased)

Same as the last year I’ve just created a poll on Google Forms on topic of what was your favourite IEM release of the year 2024 (+ some more statistically interesting data you may want to fill to make it just a little bit more interesting once I publish the results). FYI: none of the answers (apart from your nickname on the forum) is obligatory nor I gather the information on the e-mail address the form was sent from looking from the GDPR perspective.

Compared to the last year I tweaked some of the answers to be more statistically valid (like the ranges of the number of IEMs in possession that I heavily underestimated last year) + I added few questions to make it more interesting. The new ones are for example: what was your favourite/least favourite moment in the hobby, question about one particular song that reflects on 2024 as a whole that would be used for the playlist build. All in all in general it should be more telling on who we are as a community. The last question is the most interesting to me honestly

In regards to a question about the leave the hobby IEM - I took all the answers that had more than 2 selections from 2023 + added few randomly selected sets that gathered some traction in last year. Feel free to add your own.

After 15th of January I would close the poll and gather the data so to present before end of the January.

Let me know what do you think and well - Happy New Year 2025 and Merry Christmas everyone :fireworks:

If you have any other particular questions you would like to see the answers for let me know (here or on DM) before the end of the week. I would add them immediately + the poll answers would be open for modifications until the end if you feel like you changed your mind at any point

Guys, you are the men (and seeing the results I can confidently say that. There is 100% male gender selection as for today) <3

Not even one day passed, and 30 votes are in. For reference last year we reached 41 after more than 2wks, so let’s hope we can beat that.

But even if we won’t that is enough of an statistically valid sample to gather some interesting conclusions. And boys, I can tell you - there are some surprising answers and looking at the song of 2024 votes this year was hell of a ride for some of us

Thank you yet again!

Idea for an additional question next time

“Do you use EQ?”

I´m kinda curious how many actually use eq to finetune their gear

That is a really interesting question, I wonder if there is the reverse correlation between the quantity of IEMs in possession with the higher chance of PEQ/EQ being used.
I added the question as the last one, I believe everybody is able to edit their responses if they are willing to now

For me, using EQ is blasphemy. :face_with_thermometer:

Lol, most of the stuff you are listening to is blasphemy

Nice, thank you!

When i started I did not want to use EQ but that was probably just the fear of the unknown

Now it’s hard for me to understand why one does not use it. There is zero disadavantages and it makes something that you like even better.

Cadenza 12 for example is a great IEM without EQ but with EQ it just blows my socks off :exploding_head:

One problem that occurs though is it get’s much harder to justify buying new gear

I honestly don’t use EQ often at all. It’s mostly just to mess around and see what something would sound like with the EQ applied, but when I’m listening to music to enjoy it, I like to enjoy the IEM for what it is. If I don’t enjoy an IEM in it’s stock format, I typically just sell it off because, what’s the point in having it?

Just my two cents

Aye long ago I stopped trying to be a musical engineer and just matched sets with sources and tips…but each to their own :+1:
