Hifiman HE6SE For $700

Yeah, thats just the cost associated with stuff like these headphones

I haven’t looked too closely at the RAALs requirements yet, but I assume if it needs a speaker amp it’s because it requires a lot of power

I think the recommendation is 200wpc

Whats the cheapest amp i can get for this? something off ebay preferably.

Bloom Audio is demoing theirs with a Schitt Vidar. I know that’s what Max Settings picked up to power his HE6’s also. According to Andrew at Bloom, the RAALs should be good with any 100 wpc amp

Whats it called? like check this one out. its a Pyle Amp 750 watts into 8 ohms! only 120$ Pyle sells really cheap stuff. Popular on Amazon. Will this be good for the HE6?:

This is the one Bloom Audio is using:

https://www.schiit.com/products/vidar

The THD on that Pyle is really bad. .3% seems very high. The Vidar is .01% and I don’t think people would consider it a great amp as much as good value for the price. I would think the Pyle would likely power the HE6, but they wouldn’t sound very good.

omg thats 700$ :flushed: isnt there something cheaper?

Emotive A300 will push them. Barely, but they won’t sound bad. There will be room for improvement later on when you can find something good used.

It’s $700 and I’m not even sure its ideal. Speaker amps are not budget friendly the way desktop headphone amps can be. But there’s no point in dropping the $800+ on these headphones (with the required speaker amp adapter) and then going budget with the source. As mentioned above, the HE5 may be the better option if you don’t already have the speaker amp or want to make the investment in one

didnt they say that was kinda lame for these headphone? Anything better at this price point? 400$

Nope, used market is your best bet. I was clear to use the term barely.

I think every option we have tried is listed above. Maybe wait to see how @auxx makes out with his tests

I mean really you should try something like the he5se first and then see if you want to commit to a proper amp and the he6

honestly, I’d wait until you have a nice pair of speakers to go with a nice amp before bothering with something like this. Seems like an odd upgrade path to buy a nice speaker amp JUST for these headphones.

Also true. I would actually say the he6 is picker than most speakers for sure lol

Logically, that makes the most sense but the HE6SE deal tempted me

I’m listening to mine right now and wondering what they will sound like thru even more expensive and powerful monoblocks…hehehehe
:smiling_imp:

But do you actually want to know the answer lol. In the back of my mind I have been wanting to pick up another a21+ to use them in bridge mono for 1000wpc heheheh
