šŸ”¶ Hifiman HE6SE

I had both the LCD-X and the HE6 for a few months and ended up selling the LCD-X after i got a Burson Soloist 3XP, then the HE6 destroyed the LCD-X and it was pointless to keep it.
I love Audeze headphones and i was absolutely surprised when i decided to sell it without a doubt in my mind, i never saw that coming but the HE6, when properly amped, is something in its own league. I never heard summit fi stuff such as the Susvara or 1266 so i can’t quite say it is similar, but if you can afford a Soloist + HE6 i REALLY doubt you will regret it.
The LCD-X is excellent but requires tons of EQ to sound right (which is ok by me), and compared to the HE6 it lacks soundstage, detail, air, bass slam, imaging, well it lacks a bit of everything except sub-bass which is a pretty close call.

Now if you are on a budget i really loved the synergy between the LCD-X and the Drop 789 which is a super cheap amp. Some people hate it because it is 100% transparent and ā€œlifelessā€ but imo it paired really well with the LCD-X + EQ.

Nope, with the Asgard the HE6 is lean, bright and lacks dynamics. It was my fist amp with the HE6.

It’s such a hard sell that an amp can do what a soloist does to an he6 after having normal entry amps isn’t it? Doesn’t seem like you couldn’t possibly be missing out on that much and then you hear it.

Did you get the super chargers on the Burson? or was it bone stock?
Considering getting one for my 4-screw HE-6 but not sure what to look for on the classifieds.

Totally, i had a Schiit Heresy in the beginning and when i upgraded to the Asgard 3 i was like ā€œok this is a bit better overall, nothing crazyā€. Then i upgraded to the Drop 789 and i was like ā€œhmm i like this and the extra power it brings to the table is welcome, but still nothing crazyā€.

I was skeptical about the Soloist making a huge difference as some had reported so i bought an open box deal so i could re-sell it losing as little money as possible when i proved to myself it was not worth it, but when i heard it i was like ā€œHOLY S***!!!ā€, lol

It is definitively not for everyone since it is expensive for a headphone amp, but if you have the means i say it is worth every cent.

I did get the super charger and it changed the Soloist’s sound a bit, but i can’t quite put my finger on it so i would not recommend it at full price myself, i was pretty satisfied with the Soloist when using the original power supply. I don’t regret buying the super charger since the Soloist is my endgame amp, like seriously i will never again change amps, so i wanted to know it is running at its full potential for peace of mind

This is one of those times i wish i was rich

Did you get the 3A or 5A?

The 3A is for the Soloist 3XP (and other models) the 5A is for the GT (and I want to say the Timekeeper.

yeah it’s pretty stupid. i had 2 pairs sitting in their boxes safely in my closet and they just slowly drooped into the magnet and stuck. they were supposed to be backups but they failed with absolutely nothing happening to them. i’ve heard it’s possible to seal a pad up against the outside and press air into it by cupping your hand over the pad and squeezing but it sounds sketchy lol. if this happens again to me i’m demanding hifiman cover shipping because this is just ridiculous. that being said, they still DID cover an out of warranty pair so that’s pretty cool of them.

I have had a good experience with Hifiman customer services. My XS were DOA. The seller on Ali Express was being very difficult so I contacted Hifiman directly. They hit me back quick and said, ā€œTry to not buy from unauthorised Hifiman retailers. We’ll help you out; send it to our UK offices and we’ll ship a fresh set.ā€

Whole thing took a little over a week. They didn’t have to do that but it gave me confidence to buy from them, even with the concerns and inconvenience of ropey QC.

well if the shipper didn’t request signature required the they can’t do anything about it
if the driver released it that’s on the driver

Maybe a dumb question but when they stick you get no sound or just bad sound?

the bass is less dynamic sounds more compressed and the treble is less extended but it still makes sound

Weird thing is when warranty asks you to send it in, they said don’t include the box. but if i don’t have it in box, won’t the whole headphone get ruined in shipping? so weird lol…

did you send them back in with original unit in the original packaging and do they send the replacement unit back in a new box?

I’m wondering if mine are stuck. I’m not getting the great bass everyone talks about.

My great bass is dictated by cranking up the bass boost on my iFi.

Just bad sound, no bass whatsoever and weird highs.

But yeah there are a number of reasons why you may experience lack of bass. Amp is #1.
