Curious how you’d compare the og olina to the olina se if you had to do a very quick comparison. Also how is the sibilance region of both?
I was not able to stay more than 1 hour with Olina OG as I’m sensitive to upper-mids and treble (if it’s too bright and forward). For me vocals and string instruments were shouty, sharp and aggressive.
I don’t have this issue with Olina SE specially because the new tuning doesn’t have that peak around 5k. For me sounds a more balanced set and don’t feel any sibilance.
Did you try different filters on the OG Olina?
Nope. As Olina SE solved the issue, I sold the OG without try the mods and other filters.
And because I love black IEMs and turtles
If you don’t have the OG Olina, just get the SE. It’s better, if you don’t want that upper-mid energy
There are times where I prefer my Timeless over my MMKII. Makes me reconsider the purchase every time
Got a general question. So I have been using the IE600s for the past 5 days through SE on my Qudelix 5K. One thing I noticed is to get it to reasonable listening volume (not loud at all imo) I have to almost max out the source volume and volume on the Q5K. In doing so I notice a decent amount of background noise which stinks. The thing is I really enjoy the IE600 and I am wondering if this because my source is almost maxed or is it an issue with the IE600 in general? It comes with a 4.4mm balanced cable but the Q5K only has 2.5mm BAL so I cant use the cable to see if I get the same issue in balanced. Im still in the return window for the IEMs so Im trying to determine if its worth keeping them even with this issue and if it will go away with going to balanced.
I know @nymz you reviewed the IE600 and have a Q5K. Did you test it on that source and have this issue in SE?
You should ALWAYS max out source and use the amp as the controller.
Can you show your DAC/AMP section in the app, please? The one that shows the power modes.
And yes, I’ve used it with Q5k - no problem. Same for Olina(s).
DAC/AMP screen
interesting, you’re SE and high gain, right? So maybe you need a more powerful dac/amp
The first question I’d ask is what do you have the headroom and preamp set to. Those affect max volume. There are other more advanced settings too, but start there.
I PM’d u on discord, let’s talk there to not spamm this thread.
FYI you can buy a 2.5-to-4.4 adaptor relatively inexpensively. This one is the one I use: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07RLZX7RC
Yo used Tea2s for $275: Xenns/Mangird Tea mk2 | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org
unfortunately it wont make it to me in time and if I did keep these IEMs I would prefer to just get a new cable since Im not a fan of the sennheiser cables
Saving this to my cart for future reference - thank you!
Do they still make new source gear with 2.5mm?…though that was Astell&Kern’s jam
yeah unfortunate that 3 cables came with my IE900 and they’re possibly the most microphonic I’ve experienced… swapped to a modular tripowin cable and never going back
