what tripowin cable works for sennheiser?
I’m using the Tripowin Petrichor with mine
hmm intersting. And the MMCX connection works just fine?
Im not a big fan of interchangeable cables but this one looks good from tripowin as long as the MMCX connector works
yep fits just fine nice and snug, can’t be certain about the Zonie as I bundled mine with another IEM a while ago but it looked like the same mmcx style
well i ordered it so we shall see
I was answering to that statement on always maxing out digital volume on source on your thread, but in the end I said “naaah, not this time”. But if you call for me twice the same day, then here I am:
This statement is not necessarily true all the time or at least there are mixed opinions on how digital volume is outputted from Windows and Android devices at -0dBFS. Some say there is significant amount of distortion involved in DSP of both those OS while reaching max out and it is recommended to go to somewhat safer couble dB down (80-95%). I am not Android/Windows developer, so I AM NOT SURE about that, but I have seen plenty of discussions with no conclusion on that and I generally tend to go with that approach myself and I turn my sources down just a bit.
I dont hear a difference, but I don’t have any headphones where I don’t have enough headroom, so my approach is “better to be safe than sorry”
This is really strange, based on Qudelix5k own calculators you should be getting 110dB SPL for IE600 at 0,5V RMS… Are you having maybe any app internal volume settings somewhere?
where do you see the calculator? I tried using their spreadsheet but it has SPL in db/mW vs db/V which is what I see on Sennheisers website
Do both your earphones play at the same level? What about trying connecting different IEMs to see where you end up with similar settings?
My Vortex and Olina both get louder at a lower volume. I highly doubt the SPL I am listening to is 110. I could see 90 which i know is high still but 110 would be crazy loud
Yes, it is impossible in real life, so I am just wondering where is the problem. Where are you with voltage out for Olina for example?
when i roughly match levels I have;
Moonlight @ 200mV
Vortex @ 266 mV
Olina @ 376 mV
IE600 @ 596 mV
And thats casual volume listening for me
All are crazy high, either you have some stupid EU loudness limit set in Android or preamp setting on for couble of dB in EQ. I have mine fluctuating between 40mV and 110mV for the least sensitive IEMs.
im the US so I don’t think i have any loudness limit. @nymz said the same thing
Do you have a macbook and if so what volume is comparable from that output?
EDIT: 110mV is actually a pretty good level for the Moonlight. For the IE600 it sounds like a soft conversation though…
Sorry, I am Windows user and I generally operate in 8-15/100 for direct driving of IEMs. Did you check if you have EQ enabled under DSP section with some headroom setting on?
no DSP and no artificial limit on my phone or computer. running straight through the computer and I am at 7-9/16. I think I just listen to music a lot louder than everyone else. What is weird is that I don’t listen to anything else loud and Im usually sensitive to loud noises IRL
It may be the case really. For my S12 (which is actually quite close to IE600 specs wise) I have it set as follows:
With your settings on I really need to hold them couple of cm from my ears so it does not hurt
so I decided to do some super unscientific tests and download two SPL meter apps on my phone to see roughly where my settings are at. It looks like according to the apps 200mV is between 83 - 92 dbs where as 110mV is about 76 - 83 dbs during a song
