Didnt see one thats why I sent the driver FR.
Question about how to tune a FR like that? Since theyāre using 2DD, would they be dampening the bass on one driver and dampening the treble on the other, to mimic each driver handling different parts of the frequency, or would they be tuning both drivers the same, to have them be dual speakers?
it depends on implementation. You can have both drivers playing the same thing or you can separate them into a woofer and tweeter setup.
As for tuning it like that, I have no clue. Im not an iem tuning expert.
Iāll accept the fact that youāre saying my analysis is possible, without dismissing it. Thatās good enough for me because youāll forget more than Iāll ever know about this stuff
Damn, these seem pretty cool. The filters actually do change the fr quite substantially.
The black filter in particular looks like a really interesting tuning, something Iāve yet to experience. Dark + bass boost = Maximum relaxation. The only thing that might not be ideal to me is that huge cut at 15k.
graphs should be taken with a massive grain of salt above 10k.
Absolutely, youāre right about that - I guess I was just comparing against the Timeless OG from the same guy, Ian.
The green bass/mids with the blue treble would be a neutral delight, honestly
Agreed - Looks like a cool set for people that havenāt jumped on that Planar wagon yet (although, I doubt there are many out there).
Normalizing the graph at 200dB tells even more about the effect of the tuning filters. It is really hard to tell how to set up the graphs properly, as one peak in treble may make you lower down the volume of otherwise very similarly tuned IEMs making the perceived sound much worse
I come back with more tip rolling on the set.
This little bastard is really hard to tip roll: most tips wonāt stai straight on the nozzle. some wil kind of auto-align (spring tips, cp100 and CP145), but nut many. This set lights my ear canal asymetries, and the seal is really hard to get on the right side.
I found the easiest fit in my ears are the e-Horn tips; I think their long form factor helps getting a seal along the long and straight nozzle.
At the end of the session I spotted a pair of inverted KZ starline that were lost there, and it was a great match!! with this I got an easy installation, and a quite easy fit; of course I got a way warmer sound than with the e-horn; at least that allows for some tip-tuning.
I stay with e-horn nonetheless, as I find the sound being more balanced with it
Sorry, just saw graphs and thought that you had done them.
I jumped on planar with the Timeless hype train and havenāt been back on for a ride. The green and black filter are looking like theyāre tracks lead right to my home station. Might be time to buy another ticket to board before thereās no more room.
Dude, Iām in the same boat as you - looks like we caught that maiden voyage, good thing we avoided that iceberg ā¦
But this set looks really nice. Those tuning filters actually do something pretty damn cool, plus the packaging, fit and build look really nice.
Iām currently in the midst of tip/switch/module-rolling between the SA6 Ultra and the U6t and man, I think one of these has got to go! It is astonishing how close they are in terms performance to my ears, although the general tunings are a hair different (U6t is warmer where SA6 Ultra is more clinical). One thing that I will note about both of them is that, while they are BAs, they may make you rethink how you feel about BA bass (unless you are the most discerning of basshead). They both have thump, slam and rumble with that tight, fast decay. I will also note that, if the OG SA6 has the same DNA as the Ultra, it definitely deserves its revered status!
Sell both and reach for the U12t?
I have long floundered about getting the U12t, but honestly the FR on the U6t looked more appealing, as well as most descriptions of the U6t being āa mini-U12tā made the extra cost seem kinda pointless at the time. I wonāt say that itās not a possibility, but thereās also a Storm approaching and that may make any of them obsolete for me lol. As it stands, I have a lot of shuffling/selling to do in the coming months as I consolidate since Iām reaching a point where even mid-fi dabbling seems more of a whim than actual gains and I donāt make enough money to play TOTL-Roulette lol. I feel like Iāll probably end up with some combination of Storm, MEST mkII, EJ07M/KL and maybe a single-DD (currently itās between the VERNUS and Isabellae, and I may let both of those go, too). I splurge on IEMs since I spend a LOT of time on the road and I canāt pack my speakers and amps with me, but there are only so many hours in the day to listen even then so Iām reaching a point where Iām going to wind down a bit (even if only for a while, you all know how strong the Sirenās Call is). Needless to say, when I set them free, there will be deals to be had here!
I have yet to hear a really well tuned, up scale, all BA set and this makes me excited to try one. While on one hand, I really love the warmth and slow decay some DDs produced, I canāt deny that I really love a clean mid-bass tuning with faster decay like the Monarchs. At least I have a taste of what BA bass can sound like with the Mons but that DD gives you a sub-woofer type playback with the sub-bass creating almost this blanket over the entire bass region.
What a ridiculous price ā¦ jesus. There was a set on Head-Fi not too long ago selling for $815 I believe. Less than a used Monarch MKII. Just madness.
You know this
