I know how skeptical we all are of the boys over on head-fi, but I canāt sit here and say that Iām not interested in trying the SR5.

Based on the others chiming in, for $149 these things seem like a genuine gem among the never ending sea of IEMs that we have to paddle through every day. The only caveat Iāve read is that the treble can be a bit forward and fatiguing, but thatās literally it. Itās nothing but praise.
Iām curious to get everyoneās opinion on this ā¦ I can be the Guinea pig of HFGs to check on this potential BS, but I know that if itās just another redundant set, Iāll most likely be stuck with them, so I really want to be sureā¦

AFAIK, the SR5 was an out-of-pocket purchase. AmericanSpirit seems willing to just drop money on a hope and a prayer, from what I can tell
@Ohmboy yeah, see, thatās my problem. I had my skeptical glasses on since he started this campaign on the SR5, but honestly man, if you just read through the thread, it seems like it could be legit. And what goober said is what I was under the assumption of as well.
$150 isnāt peanuts, trust me, but it also isnāt $500+. Worst comes to worst, I sell em off for $100 and my loss wouldnāt be earth shattering.
Iām just still not sureā¦

We all buy partly off of hype, either seller, someoneās elseās impressions or self inflicted.

The encounter seemingly having the same driver as the Wanāer is fairly strange. We definitely need people like hi-fri to cut through all the BS!
But youāre right, to a certain degree, hype is definitely one of the strongest driving factors in purchasing decisions for the most part. Right now, Iām going through a severe case of curiosity when it comes to the SR5. It could go two ways:
1 - I donāt like them, theyāre horrible and I know not to trust a single dude on that thread I linked, or
2 - I confirm their points and opinions, thus changing my perception on some of the folk on there, not to mention I have a new IEM in the rotation and maybe I can pass along the findings to you guys.
Idk - it kind of sounds like a win-win to me personally.

This looks very tempting. I havenāt seen any new releases in the higher range that interested me as of lately. Almost thinking of taking the plunge as the test dummy and sending them on a USA HiFiGuides Tour. Seeing you fine folks on here that Iāve toured with arenāt biased. Maybe we can build them up some unbiased rep in their favor if they sound good.

DTE500 is the pair I couldnāt think of ā¦ polarizing aesthetics but they look the business to me personally. Throwing them on a tour is a great idea, Iād be down to do that as well if I end up buying a pair of the SR5s.
Considering I set up the current tour, you know Iām down for a good tour LOL. Spending other peopleās money is WAY more fun than spending my own

Let me know if youāre leaning towards getting it. Then I could get the other and send your way first to combine a tour if your down.
Edit: If not, Iām reviewing my finances now, and should be able to do both. Best worse case is it pops up used because I donāt like it and one of yāall like one enough to buy.
We need them graphed (and the SR5) on iec711.

I had an IEC711 coupler in my cart last year and now fully regret not buying it with all the tours going on

Man I never ended up ordering one. Who US based has one that they could go on part of the tour to graph.
yeah, im in Sweden.
But paul is in the US and he has a coupler so just get him on the tour.
