Are you going to be adding Tangzu to your scam list?
Will wait for their response first.
My bad! Not trying to be a douche
eagerly looking forward to what you think of this thing.
Nah Iâm just messing. Lord knows the group listening to things keeps me a little bit out of trouble, in trying to try things I shouldnât!
Speaking ofâŚ@Rikudou_Goku
Oh Iâm definitely familiar with that song. Iâll give it a go on the Legato. Any chance your on Spotify? I have a great playlist of 70s and 80s roller skating songs I could share.
I may not be of the age to have went to the rink as a teenager in their prime years but, I did go multi times a week in the early 2000s. I was a rink rat and did all the rubber legging, shuffling and jam skating. The DJ was an older gentleman and played the prime songs of the rink heydays and I got hooked on them. I actually meant my wife at the rink. We still visit them fairly often and now that our kids are old enough to skate we go as a family. Even got a roller skate tattoo to commemorate us meeting their and the memories of it.
haha I am on spotify and have a Skate Jams playlist as well. I too was not the right age for prime rink rolling but I skated a bit and always appreciated the vibe
KAEI TAP 2 (Upgrade MUSE02 version) with Moondrop Dawn (3.5mm) on OnePlus 8T using UAPP
Sensitive/low-impedance test:
Softears Volume (5ohm, 123.7db/vrms@1khz) :
(TUBE ON, LOW GAIN) Can still hear the music (extremely low volume though) with the amp being on at 0 volume, which is kind of annoying. The volume wheel´s volume (no pun intended) control is excellent and allows for very fine adjustments. ZERO NOISE AT ALL even without music playing, although if you turn off the music and raise the volume to around 12 o´clock there is some noise
(TUBE OFF, LOW GAIN) 0 volume still has some music playing although slightly louder as with the TUBE OFF the volume overall is actually louder. Control over the volume is pretty much the same in that it has excellent control BUT since it is louder overall, it does mean that it gets louder quicker. No tube noise from it even with the wheel turned all the way to the max (no music playing obviously) but there is some very slight hiss in the background at that point which isnât really a problem since no sane person will listen that loud.
(TUBE OFF, HIGH GAIN) Same as before but even worse volume control since it gets quick really fast. Hiss is more present and at ALL volumes while at max volume the hiss is much louder.
(TUBE ON, HIGH GAIN) same as with tube OFF, there is now hiss present at all volumes AND at 9 o´clock the tube noise kicks in. Volume control is slightly better though as the volume is a bit lower than without the tube activated as mentioned before.
Comment: You will have no issues AT ALL using sensitive and low-impedance transducers.
POWER test:
Ruler (Planar, 50ohm, <92db):
(Tube ON, LOW GAIN): Cannot hear music at 0 volume. Playing at around 1-2 o´clock. ZERO noise at all volumes and no hiss.
(TUBE OFF, LOW GAIN): Playing at around 12-1 o´clock.
(TUBE OFF, HIGH GAIN): playing at around 10-11 o´clock. No noise nor hiss at all.
(TUBE ON, HIGH GAIN) playing at around 11-12 o´clock. No hiss at all, tube noise is very slightly present at max volume.
DIY 500ohm BUD (500ohm):
(TUBE ON, LOW GAIN): Cannot hear music at 0 volume. Playing at around 12-1 o ´clock. At max volume, there is an extremely tiny tube noise that is present.
(TUBE OFF, Low GAIN): Playing at around 11 o´clock. No hiss nor noise at all.
(TUBE OFF, HIGH GAIN): Can hear music at 0 volume slightly. Playing at around 9-10 o´clock. No hiss nor noise at all.
(TUBE ON, HIGH GAIN): Can hear music at 0 volume very slightly. Playing at around 10 o´clock. Tube noise is present a bit at max volume, no hiss.
Comment: Can drive pretty much anything.
Source memeing: Tube on or off honestly really doesnât sound that different too me, the Tube on mode might be very slightly smoother, warmer and with looser/slower bass compared to the tube off mode. But extremely hard to tell since the volume changes instantly with the different modes. I might prefer using low gain compared to high gain simply because you get a bit better volume control (doesnât go loud as quick).
In conclusion, this is a damn powerful amp that will drive anything and without any issues with noise nor hiss with the most sensitive iems. While this does count as a tube amp (well, hybrid) you should think of it more as an SSD amp with tube glow.
LOL My CO in the first unit I was assigned to in the Marines used to say this all the time. âNegative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.â I definitely miss that dude. He could make you laugh in the middle of a firefight. Anyways, thanks for the chuckles.
âNegative Ghost Riderâ is definitely still used across all of the branches
edit: Oohrah Devils, old 6042 here, HMLA-169 for most of my service.
Snaps off salute
Oohrah! Nice to see a brother here. Thanks for your service. 6042 would be one of the supply/unit inventory positions right? My last MOS, the one for the majority of my service actually, was 0370 for my recon unit.
Yeah, 6042 (at least in my time of 03-07) was an Aviation Maintenance Material Readiness List Asset Manager, aka I handle all the stuff we canât get from Snap-on or Ace Hardware to keep the birds in the sky. HMLAs are Skid Kids aka Hueys and Cobras, it was neat because it was AH-1W and UH-1Ns when I was in, and we were just phasing out the CH-46 Phrogs with the V-22s getting adopted, and I also got to oversee some of the first AH-1Z/UH-1Y quad rotor units arrive on Pendleton. Feels like a lifetime ago now.
havenât seen anyone mention the MoonDrop Lan lately any other takers out there
Right on, bro! I thought I remembered it being something like that. I have some friends that were on air crews so I knew I had heard it before. You and I were probably at Pendleton at the same time for a year or two before MARSOC (at the time) moved our unit to Twenty-Nine Palms for our combat readiness station. Replicating desert conditions for training was a lot easier out there for obvious reasons, but I definitely missed living in and around Pendleton and Coronado.
Oh, the joys of 29 Stumps. Sorry to say that I never made it out there (great place to save money, Iâm told) but I did have to do a DET to MCAS Yuma for a month for a training exercise and boy, with first hand experience, you wanna know what southern Iraq weather feels like? Yuma is a GREAT approximation. I always referred to the daytime conditions as âSatanâs Armpitâ while it would get down to freezing at night. Funny you mention Pendleton and Coronado, a buddy of mine (that was Army for a brief stint) is out visiting his cousin in Carlsbad this week. Talk about the old stomping grounds (aka everything from Oceanside down to the border, you know what Iâm talking about)!
Edit: Sorry for the OT everyone, weâll take it to PMs lol
You stopped at the border?!?! Iâm pretty sure TJ is half funded by Marines running amok!
And yes, sorry everyone you can have your thread back.
I had plenty of offers to head down to TJ for a weekend or a 72/96, and I was always kind enough to offer to post bail when they canât make muster on Monday.
Rumble feels like you are in front of a woofer. Sound is complete and musical, it definitely got my head bobbing. Personally I would like a little more treble as some of of the instruments are missing a bit of bite but I think people who prefer a more neutral presentation will be pleased.
that bass drum hits with real authority and sets the tone for the whole song. Replay is energetic and fun and vocals sound nice and clear. Instruments sound natural albeit with more heft and boom in percussions. Also as I was writing this âSomething about Usâ came on and its glorious! Listening to these I think I should have upped my dance/electronic genre rating.
the bassline through of the song has really good tactility and gives this very consistent mellow rumble which doesnât interfere with the ethereal vocals. Very pleasing replay and itâs hard for me to come up with any criticism hereâŚ
I donât think the Legatoâs do this song justice. I can tell the way this was mastered it would benefit from something with better imaging and a bigger stage. Tonality is not an issue and everything sounds clearly separated and natural which is a feat when all the instruments build up in the middle of the song. oh wow⌠that bass at the end⌠is just⌠fucking epic!!
EDIT: That last one I was writing as I was listening. It was a whirlwind experience haha
