its a great set! Honestly, the whole tour package had bangers so even the ones I liked the least still trump most sets out there haha. I do think its a BA thing. I think BA bass can get good texture at lower quantities but when you up the amount of bass it starts to show cracks compared to a DD.
I consider it to be a W. below are what I consider textbook examples of a V (OH10), W (IE600) and U (IE900)
Video put tonight the FAN2 is amazing , balanced and with Penon Vocals. Oh My …Yeah I liked it. TDM
Honestly I’m more curious about higher end warm-ish U-shaped or warm balanced as nymz said audio than anything that I might make the needless decision of buying for myself someday lol
As for genres I listen to a whole bunch of them like metal and power metal, classic rock and hard rock, traditional Irish and Newfoundland music (stuff from The Irish Descendants, The Fabels [give those guys a listen they’re amazing], Celtic Woman, Great Big Sea, I could go on lol it’s a big list), classic country and (good) modern country, synthwave and shredwave, shit-tons of video game soundtracks, pornography and blues.
I think about it from time to time but that price runs a little steep for me (he says as he future thinks about the Subatomic Tempest)
Having owned the Z12 I feel like I’ll not enjoy the delivery as much of a planar like I do with just a single DD.
If I am welcome, been thinking about joining in more. I am more of a Head-Fi user since I have been there for over 10 years, and I know how many in here talk about Head-Fi users.
FAN 2 is more W-shaped than U. Its a great IEM, bass is very in line with the mids and treble so in a way very neutral sounding.
Positives:
Bass texture ,definition and mid bass impact
Mids is a little forward and make vocals shine
Low treble are none fatiguing and have ok detail
Soundstage is good but not outstanding, same goes for imaging capabilities
Very good price especially for the ones who got it for VIP price.
Never sibilant for me
The shell is small and comfortable
Great case, tips and cable
Cons:
Bass shelf flats out early, so the sub bass is lacking in comparison to mid bass
Mids, while vocals and instruments are clear and full sounding some females can be fatiguing depending on how sensitive you are.
Lower treble having to aggressive anti sibilance dip, lacking some energy for me.
Lack air and shimmer compared to some other hybrids.
Full price is to much IMO, especially with how the market is moving.
Nozzle is fairly long and have a different angle than other IEMs I have, gets uncomfortable after a while.
I have sold mine, going to borrow one again soon for a review as I want it in as a comparison. I do miss it, but I also own the H30 that is similar with better extension in sub bass and treble. FAN2 is better tuned overall than H30 , comfort is mainly why I sold the FAN 2.
Mild V imo
You can literally copy paste @MMag05 response and just change my name on it.
In my collection Mest makes sense and is proficiently better technically, but if I could only have one IEM for the rest of my life (between those two) it would be Meteor.
Also will fit your tastes better, judging by your preferences.
PS: try to demo/buy for cheap a sony n3
I think I understand what you mean. I recently picked up the Legato and seem to be gravitating more towards it compared to IE 600. The IE 600 has better resolution and a more precise Image among other things but Legato is more to my preference.
I consider it to be a U-Shaped sound signature.
@RockinDave Yes, it is a bit expensive but IMO it does seem to fit some of your requirements. It’s a U-Shaped signature, Warm-Neutral, Good Mid-Bass… the only con that I can think of is an average soundstage.
Hi @Leonarfd I saw you from time to time at the Cables thread over at Head-Fi.
It seems like a lot of users are recommending the Fan 2 so it must be a good set.
This will be a bit of a side-tangent, but I wanted to get it off my back. These are only my own feelings and experiences, and I cannot speak on behalf of anyone else.
I only “recently” discovered the world of audio as a hobby, but as a newer member, I feel the barrier of entry on Head-fi is much greater than here. Just the fact that users get a sort of rank, makes the whole space seem daunting. An element of social psychology which sets the stage for “how things work” there.
That being said, I have only followed a few threads on Head-fi, which piqued my interest, so [again] grain of salt, but I often get an echo chamber vibe there. People nod to what the popular kids say, and discourse gets left unanswered. Meanwhile here, it gets replied to and concluded in a reasonable manner, despite differences. Shake hands, hug it out, be cool and be done. Personally, I am a fan of the latter, despite turbulance along the way.
Having said that, I find it amusing that of all the people I contacted through PMs on Head-fi, it was none other than @Leonarfd who answered literally all my questions, and did so in a very nice and respectful manner. He even threw out the option for me to try his pair of IEMs. Different league than some of the other responses I received…
I’ve been in plenty of social circles, be it online or offline where there has been a sense of elitism about it all, and I detest it. I can’t count the amount of friends I’ve gotten from people coming up to me after a gig, saying they want to learn how to spin records - and I did teach them how to. Welcome new people, and the world becomes a better place. Leonarfd gave me that welcoming feeling. All creds to the man! Hope you stick around:)
Cool Yoshi out
Well said, and welcome!
It’s pretty unpretentious and chilled here, I would venture the most experienced audio folk are often the most patient and helpful. I’m glad you find it easier to be at home here as this’s one big ole music loving fam at the end of the day
And also major improvement on the shell. Here is a sneak peak. In about 3 hours the pre sale goes live.
Aye 15.00 over here in the UK
Yeah same here in PT. Just so that you know it will be limited to 50 units.
Lol all BA set’s ain’t really my thing but the X Elise’s graph does look good just needs that DD to keep things
There are some BA sets with solid low end that makes you doubt the technology for the bass. But they usually cost, what type of BA and how many also define it how good.
But they will always be on the faster side in decay, but also some DD sets have faster decay.
