Makes sense
Took a look at the DT600 and under the metal (dust) filter, it has 3 sound bores. They fit the smaller BA dampers (1.4mm or 1.8mm diameter) so you can probably play around with it a lot with ba dampers and impedance adapter. Probably has a ton of potential.
i dont eq. but this was tempting from a review.
The graphics may be the same, but technically they will have nothing in common
My body is ready for the quintet, now the question is what tips do I use lol.
Hey man just like the other guy said in a different thread that tuning matters alot, but yea consider it similar to a timbre difference due to the different configurations. Again not literally the difference is in timbre, just figuratively.
Definitely an interesting exercise, auto EQ is a cool feature on the squigs, but SoundEater is right - the hardware is no where near the same so I doubt theyād even sound similar tonally.
100 % agree two different sets that graph the same absolutely dont sound the same.
Not sure when this started, but seeing theese kind of comparisons poping up is kinda humorousā¦wishful thinking will get you part way there i guess.
Two sets same driver configuration from the same manufacturer and graphs almost mirror each other. They clearly sound different and the more expensive model comes out on top. So my point is there is more to just a line on a paper that equates to the actual sound.
Shell, dampening , internal mojo and driver quality all play a big part of the whole equation.
quite true. i posted this just as a token of correlation. nothing more.
@Redcarmoose
his review got me hooked on this.

My body is ready for the quintet,ā¦oh man what a line
none can have expressed it better in shorter words.
Oh hell no, heard both and the Quintetās timbre is not the same as the Monarch - it has a brittle/metallic feeling to it and less natural
Honestly, it is really hard to compare just about ANY IEM with the monarch (MKII specifically) when it comes to timbre and tonality. Obviously I havenāt heard every single IEM ever made, but out of all of them I have tried, they are pretty much the most accurate when it comes to timbre.
What about chonk?
Dude, as @nymz has put it in the past, I hit the genetic lottery - the MMKII is my best fitting and isolating IEM I have
Iām not jealous at all nope
Be veryyyyyy jealous, my friend
A pleasant surprise - The Sound Rhyme SR5
Something told me to temper my expectations prior to receiving the SR5. I heard and read all the hype from day one over on the other forum and from people I typically wouldnāt trust with anything, let alone $150 of my money. Well, my tour group, people that I trust whole heartedly, got their hands on the SR5 and the impressions were positive for the most part, but not earth shattering by any means. When something hits, something hits - @MMag05 with the Pandas and Glamdrings, @GooberBM with the Fan 2 and 41T, @cal_lando most recently with the Aureā¦ I think weāve been very fortunate as a group and for me personally, itās hard to impress me now a days. CanJam kind of screwed me up when it comes to being blown away when it comes to IEMs. I mean, has to be truly special to impress me. It has to have that, magic? I donāt know if Iām talking out of my ass here, but thatās where Iām at.
EA500 = a tuning masterclass. Balance. Techs. Low price.
Pandas = an absolute sleeper with incredible tuning and texture for female vocals, which happens to be 85% of my library.
OG Teas = a legendary set that needs no introduction. They were just on my list from day one, over a year ago. They are special, no doubt about it.
So then weāre onto the SR5. A market disrupter in a sense, claimed by many to have TOTL tuning and above average for the price point techs.
Now of course, these are just my opinions but after putting about 10 hours total on them so far, I think I have to agree with both of those statements. At first, there was a timbral imbalance within the lower treble to my ears and looking at Magās graph database, my ears were proven to be correct. (Btw, check out his database here = https://fr.mmagtech.com/ - heās put a ton of work into it). After some serious tip rolling however, Iāve found that the right seal and seating corrects that small issue. Iāve settled on either the Whizzer SS20 or Tri Clarion tips - which to me, completely went against my notion of how tips work, wide bore = more treble and all that, but as contrary as it may seem, these did the trick. The whizzer provided a better SQ ever so slightly, but the clarions found the right balance between SQ and fit security, so Iāve settled on those.
To keep it very simply, the bass region is literally, literally perfect to my preferences. I canāt say much more, honestly. It has the perfect amount of presence, separation and balanced between sub and mid. Not to mention, thereās tons of amazing texture. Thereās clearly a well implemented and developed DD in these things. Well controlled, fast enough but with natural decay to allow the mid bass to not come across as lean. The mids are also very strong, the gain region is literally chefs kiss - I mean, 0 shout. The only IEMs that beat the SR5 in my collection when it comes to mids have to be the 3 kings - Monarch MKII, OG Dark Magician, and the Pandas and this comes down to the tuning and texture. The SR5 comes across as a bit thicker, and less forward producing a warmer presentation, but donāt let that fool you, there isnāt a lack of clarity - detail retrieval and overall resolution is far above this price point in my humble opinion. Itās just that, those other 3 are a little more focused on that area and thus, are the 3 kings in that regard. The treble is an equal masterclass once you find the right tips. Light, detailed and fairly well extended, although I am spoiled by the ESTs in the Monarch with their amazingly airy cymbals, I can still enjoy the treble on the SR5.
Fit and comfort are also absolute top notch for me as well. No complaints whats so ever in that department.
Alright, to summarize - what can I say? Yet again Iāve been spoiled. The SR5 is absolutely a banger. I really wouldnāt change anything about them tuning wise besides maybe some more treble extension past 10k but thatās really it.
I think these are bangers, and I wanted to thank my buddy @VIVIDICI_111 the man himself, for using these as a deposit for projects him and I will inevitably work on together in the future. Thank you, youāre a legend
Thatās it, guys. For all of my US occupants, enjoy your 4th and stay safe!
Nah, we are totally spoiled for choice, brother. New IEMs I try can be very nice but it is increasingly hard for them to break through, especially with my last three acquisitions (Voldemort, Panda, Vulkan).
If you asked me to get down to 3 IEMs and 3 earbuds to keep, Iād have some very difficult choices to make!
Good Lord, only 3 IEMs would be rough.
I would probably take Tea 2 over the OG. That one hurts, but I listen to the Tea 2 more.
S12 is still my favorite planar ( I am listening to it tonight ), but that means no Timeless, PR2, or even the P1 Max ( ouch ).
Then it would be Olina SE or Simgot EA500. I lean more toward the Olina, but that also means no modded OG Olina.
That leaves out Galileo, QKZxHBB, Mele, Z300, Hola, Cadenza, and the EW200.
