IEM discussion thread (Part 1)

I guess so mate but it seems folks are prepared to part with their hard earned :pound: for them none the less?

yeah I guess. I shamefully threw mine away when I got my sony bluetooth thing like 8 years ago or something lol.

Your list

My list is quite short right now:

LZ A7

Tin Hifi P2
Moondrop SSP

(A7 is waaaaaayyyy higher up on priority lol)

Is that in order?

P2 may well be an epic fail?
Tin are a bit random when it comes to part deux’s lol.

Yeah that is in order with A7 at the very top. Probably going to instant buy it the instant it pops up :joy:

The P2 has potential based on my P1 + EQ, but it depends on how tin tunes it

Sorry trying to keep general IEM discussions in this thread :+1:

No problem, I was the one that made this to prevent derailing other threads.
(not doing a good job at that :joy:)

@PapaEmeritus “You should add the Starfield to your list. It is a solid performer. It’s not as fun as the FH3, it’s more clinical, but if you’re looking for a rock solid IEM with great comfort. The Moondrop Starfield is an easy recommendation to make.”

I dont have it lol, but have the KXXS.

I’ve been crazy buying IEMs the last 3-4 months. After hearing the FH3, I’m really not interested in anything else at the moment.

I have THOR MJÖLNIR coming eventually from DROP.

I think the FH3 will hold me over for a while, but I would like to finish off my Fiio collection and pick up the FH5. I’ve never heard it.

After that will either be the Andromeda or IER-Z1R maybe.

Yeah the FH3 made me lose interest in getting more DD/hybrids.

I am still interested in more “exotic” sets (P2 = Planar, A7 = tribrid (DD + 4 BA + Piezo)).

The SSP might be an exception since it is quite cheap and has a beryllium, just going to wait and see how they tune it. Would be nice to have a great budget option alongside the more expensive FH3.

(Exception is if I get a review unit lol, but I dont have any plans to buy more DD/hybrids right now)

#1 Urbanfun #2 Blon BL-03 #3 Moondrop Starfield

The Starfield is a problem because for 20 bucks more, you can have the FH3. The FH3 > Starfield.

yeah but
are you trying to save my money :joy: :joy: :joy:

The urbanfun is dead in my book because of their damn fucking piece of shit qc. Blon 03 is a bit lacking in technicalities and unless modded with the mesh mod it has bloated bass too (fit can be hell for some too).

The ssp on the otherhand has:
1: beryllium dd
2: moondrop (they are very consistent with their high quality)
3. Fit looks good ( at least better than the 03)
4.
waifu :joy:

Cant comment on the Starfield, but yeah it is too close to the FH3 in price.

I hear ya. Just saying, those are probably the best budget options currently. My Urbanfun sounds great, so I got lucky. For only 60 bucks? It’s amazing. But still
The FH3 is so much better than all the other options, I think it has to be the only recommended IEM in the budget/semi budget space. It’s so much better than IEMs with much more expensive price tags, I’d have to recommend anyone thinking of buying any of the cheaper IEMs just save their money and get the FH3.

I’ve heard the SSP does not sound good. It’s a definite skip for me.

The IBasso IT00 is a great sounding IEM. I just hope the driver flex and channel imbalance issues can be resolved.

My urbanfun also sounds great. But i cant tell people to buy it when it is uncertain if they get the “right” one and without mmcx problems (I use tape on mine to secure it
).

Yeah the FH3 is great, but we do need other recs for other people with different taste though.

I believe you are thinking about the SSR not the SSP which hasnt been released yet.

That looks quite horrible to me.

You should add the Starfield to your list. It is a solid performer. It’s not as fun as the FH3, it’s more clinical, but if you’re looking for a rock solid IEM with great comfort. The Moondrop Starfield is an easy recommendation to make.

You’re right. I got them mixed up. I didn’t know there was another upcoming IEM from Moondrop???

Yep, that’s the graph I saw. Horrible to my tastes. That treble peak with no bass and even less sub bass would literally kill me! lol

There ya go. It’s the same thing for only 110 bucks.

I have the KXXX and even though I’ve heard it’s been slightly re-tuned with more bass, I really can’t hear it.

What’s your opinion of the KXXS?

From the reviews on the Starfield I dont think it is a contender anymore.

If it really is as similar to the KXXS as they say it is (with a bit lesser upper treble). its not worth it in my opinion.

I havent tried it but I have heard good things about the NF Audio NM2.

Did that work ok guys?
