I second this. As an owner of the original Zen and an lsa hp-2 ultra, there are qualities of dynamic drivers that are simply unmatched. The one thing I miss on the timeless is this dynamic range. The timeless planarness takes this aspect down a few notches.
Oxygen and 3DT are on my list for this reason. but as an owner of a Zen, it’s hard to justify.
Okay this is all very helpful. I’ve ordered the KZ model since it’s so cheap and I’ll report back once I try it out. I might also try the mods mentioned in the @Rikudou_Goku forum and see what they do because why not.
I might also try the e2000 and the fd1 as cheaper versions of the e4000 and the fd5 to see if I can get an idea what their more expensive cousins sound like without breaking the bank. We’ll see.
The CX400BT might be a better way to “demo” the IE900 tuning. Especially since it doesnt have that massive upper-treble roll-off that the Finschi has. (and its also from Sennheiser so…)
The more expensive qdc Dmagic’s have the same 2 way sound channels, although they don’t have a see-through enclosure. Guess this way they can better tune the individual drivers while making sure sound from the one doesn’t make the other one vibrate?
So the DQ6s came and the stock tips are trash but I put Spinfits on them and these are shockingly good. I have the Tanya’s coming tomorrow so I can try those filters, but I’m already really impressed with these especially for the price.
