Will the EA500 become a venerated legend within the next 5 years?! Mine only cost £50 and most likely best price to performance item I have purchased (PR2 for £28 is also incredible)

Hey chap - probably not the most known headphone here but the Aiaiai TM2 may be a good fit.
Closed back, 32ohm impedance, super light, a little V shaped, where you can customise the drivers, wireless module (wifi and Bluetooth), pretty much everything on the headphone so it is all modular, upgradeable and repairable. They do a trade in also, and have very good customer sevice. You are around their new price with your budget.
They are heavily used in the DJ/Studio monitoring world for smaller artist use - focus on Electronic & Pop/R&B market. Very popular with girls in that space also. Cool kid use has been pretty high.
You can see them in use here across a load of videos this studio makes
Personally I would say these are equivalent SQ level wise to the Sivga @Ohmboy recommeded with the additional cost going to the features, branding, design.

What do you think of the Kai in comparison to the P1 Max, spot any similarities?

I haven’t heard the Kai in a very long time tbh but if my memory serves me well, I’d say the Kai is far more laid back with lacking treble extension and a far more intimate stage. I just think that generation of single DD was not as capable as the current, take the EA500 as an example, the EA500 literally wipes the floor with the Kai in every single point of comparison. The P1 Max is just in a different league all together imo.

Interesting results and thoughts. If your not aware it’s somewhat known that Penon has pretty bad QC when it comes to channel matching. Well at least that’s the way it seems to played out for a lot of us. Until recently it may have kept @nymz awake more at night than a new born baby.
Here’s @rattlingblanketwoman Fan 2. Which has what I consider a bad amount of imbalance.
Here’s @GooberBM Fan2. Which clearly has good channel matching.
Now here’s where it gets interesting. Here’s both the sets against each other averaged out. Damn near match isn’t it? So is Penon assuming average for L/R channel to hit the advertised frequency assuming that psychoacoustics will come into play to hit the advertised target or is this just a weird coincidence?

I watched HBB’s preview/initial impressions of of the EA500 and it doesn’t sound like it’s musical enough since he mentions OCD listening qualities to it.

This one looks absolutely horrible. imbalance across the whole shelf, not a specific peak/dip.
You definitely hear something off here.
I mean, even this bothered me to hell.

When I get my coupler up and going I don’t dare measure my ISN and Penon left and right side for comparison. What I don’t know wont ruin it 
But seriously the Penon Globe I had was always louder on left side, both for me and a friend.
