It’s also knowledge available on the internet:
@VIVIDICI_111 Jays, Jays, I see that Estrella will be available on amazon soon, but I would like to ask why you lowered the rating of Estrella - TECH from S- to A+ in the ranking?
I don’t have it ranked on my list. Are you talking about IEM FIT? More of a placeholder score, and the original score was the prototype version
This is what I’m writing about iemfit, at the beginning Estrella had a double S, so yesterday I was very surprised that you changed S to A. Does this mean that the prototype was different from the final one?
was placeholder score I never really ranked it, ya prototype has less bass check the graph, I’ll change it back to avoid confusion (don’t have the option to not rank it). Just so everyone know the new score on IEM FIT is just for memes/placeholder

I enjoyed that part of your Crin chat. He has well formed ideas on what the issues are with xmems, and I think they have similar issues to electrostats.
I understand, but why don’t you include Estrella’s score in your ranking?
It would be nice to see where it is and I guess there is no need to be afraid of opinions since I (and probably many people) use it as an example when choosing the purchase option (that’s why I bought EM6L and Supermix4!) why not put them in the right place?
I think the ranking in iemfit is also binding because the iem results are the same as in Jay’s Ranking List. There was some confusion, but the Estrella prototype - S- S-, then you changed Estrella final to S- A+, now it is S+ S+, is this the correct assessment? because only Subtonic Storm had Double S+.
Conflict of Interest.
It’s pretty standard practice for someone with a collab or IEM them helped design to NOT review or rank it any way. There is an obvious level of bias that can not be removed, and since they helped tune and design it per their ears and library, it’s going to be placed very high if not the top just based on their own preferences. At best, most reviewers with a collab can make one-off recommendations if you ask “should I get this or this for X purpose at Y/Z prices?” but otherwise logic dictates that a majority of the time they will just recommend their collab, whether out of preference or profit.
Try this:
Estrella + DUNU HULK 4.4 + Divinus Velvet + iBasso DC- Elite
To my ears, that’s what Estrella does A+++ so close to S- !
Good luck.
To be fair, almost everything sounds good with the DCE lol. That source makes no sense. I only see 2 guys who dislike the DCE (won’t be name calling though). That thing tighten the bass to the max while provide sheer details and wideness. It automatically raise the rank of every iem i use by a step or two, that’s why i’m not keen on using it during review and such.
Dunu Hulk, prob nah.
Vetvet, yes :))
No, no i’m not :)))))) So far i’ve only seen EPZ 530 to not have good synergy with the DCE, as detail+detail = too much detail for me lol.
With the Penon Serial, the bass hits just have more authority and definition, no more of that soft, poofy feeling when under powered, or with usual dongle like the EPZ TP50.
For many other iem, it just sounds better. If it weren’t for the dumb volume knob, i would have gotten one myself. I’m waiting for DCE 2 i guess.
What’s up with the volume knob on it? Sorry I’m out of the loop
Also the DCE2 is probably 1-2 years away don’t you think? DCE is not even a year old
No reviewer worth a shred of credibility should review their own collab, put it into a rankings list or use it as a comparison model in reviews of other units. MASSIVE conflict of interest.
You really think a collab creator is going to be honest/objective about a model they helped design and tune and are making money from sales? If so, I have oceanfront property in Saskatchewan to sell you.
They could certainly choose to be honest and I think many would be, yet I would never fault someone for staying away from that entirely.
I would love to see some hypothetical rankings of the collaborations, if they’re well after launch cycle, and transparently identified.
I think the community feedback/backlash would help with the objectivity and honesty.
