JAY's audio memes (and reviews/ranking too I guess)

What did you EQ? It sounds great stock already. Super engaging for rock and indie stuff.

The lower treble peak is a bit too much. That and a little bit subbass

You mean mid-bass? The low-end is linear up to vocals, it’s not sub-bass focused, but ya I can see the peak being annoying with certain tracks.

What’s the best single DD under $1000?

The left side of my IE600 decided to go bye-bye, completely dead.

Pretty upset and won’t be buying anything from Senn again! Lasted less than my Tangzu Wa’ner, no excuse to have QC this bad.

I’ve heard the Softears Twilight is really good, not cheap but fits my criteria.

Moral of the story is to not buy anything with a lot of QC issues, the IE600 has had a lot of complaints over the years and all Senn seems to do is send replacement units.

Will upload a video on my channel.
IE600 and Twilight are different, don’t know why anyone would choose one if they are aiming for another. Twilight is much more mature & IE600 way too much fun oriented.

IE900 ( There are two different tunings, it seems; I heard the safer tonality ) should bridge the gap between the two[ IE600 & Twilight]. They go on sale frequently, too.

Personally, I would choose Twilight

Check out Moritz Dragon for a fun sound. maybe a bit closer to IE600 soundwise than Twilight.

Dunno about ‘best’, the Twilights don’t do it for me (bass), no friend of anything made by Senn, but I do love my NiceHCK Himalayas after some modding and on the right source and prefer them over my Timsok TS-316 but big YMMV, as usual.
Another set worth a look are the Shanling MG800 but I haven’t tried them.

Honestly bro just get the KZ Zenith lol. Try that first and see how you like the sound. If you want a warmer sound twilight might be good, but way too overpriced imo. SIMGOT EA1000 might be good too if you like something bright like the IE600.

I had an unopened Tanchjim Origin and decided to keep it (Was a originally a gift) because my IE600 died.

Haven’t had a lot of listening time but it’s very solid.

I think someone posted some EQ settings to retune it into an Twilight

Yeah, that’s frustrating, especially at the IE600’s price point, you’d expect way better reliability. Their approach with the 600 didnt really inspire confidence in much people after their purchase

The ND Planet low key a sleeper… in my opinion of course.

The All On config on the Cannon Pro looks pretty dope for vocals, what are you thinking, brother Jay?

Looking at the planet graph as an 8k sensitive person…

Binoculars priest ah shit GIF on GIFER - by Malrajas

I know I know 8k peaks, couplers, resonance,…but not as pronounced in any of the other graphs so probably a real thinh (like the P1 Max and many other sets “adding sparkle and snap” back at the top)

That peak is indeed very likely real. Their shell looks identical to the dirt cheap acrylic DIY shells you can buy on taobao for like a dollar or 2.

And that peak looks near identical to what I got with that shell (with 2 different DDs as well).

Its likely from the shell itself.

I can confirm the shell is about as cheap as a shell can get.

Yep, it FEELS really cheap right? The shape and the look of it is identical to what I used so I assume it must either be the material or the shape of it that is causing such a big peak around 8 and 10k.

1,5 usd/pair.

Extremely cheap. Like, the cheapest feeling shell I have ever felt in my life lol They’re completely hollow and every time I slightly tap the shells together or they knock on a surface, I wince because I think they’re going to crack lmao
