I got my Ebony HP-3 in today from Electronicsforless Canada. Paid 1249.00 CAD before tax / 1,337.04 CAD after tax. These retail for 1499 CAD.

So after tax I paid the equivalent of about 996.00 USD. Iā€™d consider this a fair discount but I could have saved more if I hadnā€™t slept on the Adorama deal - twice.

Iā€™ve only been listening for for an hour or so since receiving them so I obviously wonā€™t be doing any in depth reviews here but I like what I hear so far. My opinion at this moment is way more in-line with Zeos than Crinacle for whatever thatā€™s worth.

Iā€™ve got these on PC -> Sabaj D5 -> Phonitor XE -> HP-3 (Balanced XLR between dac and amp and 4 pin XLR Silver Dragon cable on the HP-3).

First thing that stands out is how these sit on the head. I wear a 7 5/8" fitted baseball cap for head size reference and more often than not I wear a cap while listening to headphones. The HP-3s really seem to want to be in a particular position and take a bit of fucking about to get it just right. Iā€™ll get used to it Iā€™m sure but right now itā€™s a minor inconvenience. Theyā€™re also bit heavy though the clamp force seems about right for my head size.

Iā€™m very much enjoying the sound so far. Iā€™ve been daily driving a set of Grado GS1000 for about a decade and rarely deviate from them so any time I try new headphones it always takes a bit getting used to. Like it or not using only one type of headphone daily for 10 years is going to colour your idea of what something is supposed to sound like. The HP-3 so far are neither a massive deviation nor a major upgrade (or downgrade thankfully) from what Iā€™m used to and all I can really say is they sound good to my ears. I was concerned because Crinacleā€™s list came out shortly after ordering the HP-3s and I was immediately hit with a sense of buyerā€™s remorse. Those feelings were unfounded.

If I can overcome my own laziness Iā€™ll try these with my RebelAmp and my Mapletree Audio tube amp this weekend.

Edit: just a side note I placed my order on May 23rd. By June 4th I hadnā€™t received any shipping information despite the HP-3ā€™s being listed as in stock and ready to ship within 24 hours. I contacted customer support to verify my order and was told that the HP-3s were ā€œin stock, reserved for us at Klipsch but they are behind on shippingā€. I received my order 5 days later.

Edit 2: The other thing that jumped out at me is the way the 3.5mm connectors attach to the headphones makes the headphone cable sit in a weird spot against my neck. This is opposed to the Grados which tend to just lay nicely on my chest. Not the worst, just different I guess.

New Price $1250.00 USD / $1670.00 CAD

I wrote something similar above and I completely agree. Itā€™s not that theyā€™re uncomfortable, it just seems to take a minute to get them to sit the way you want them to. But once theyā€™re there itā€™s okay.

No coincidence that I loathe IEMs and the guy to shit on them is known for being the IEM guy.

Felt the same way. My Periapt cable fixed this issue for me.

The Moon Audio Silver Dragon cable was a recent pickup and I got it used for a pretty good price and despite being my most expensive cable itā€™s definitely not my favorite. I also have a BTG Audio and a Amplifier Surgery cable I can use with these and theyā€™re both para cord-covered like the Pariapt which I definitely prefer. I just havenā€™t dug them out to try yet. I never unpacked the included cables I donā€™t suspect Iā€™ll want to use them.

These stock cables are actually pretty nice, just wish the split sides were also braided with the way they sit.

They do look beautiful, but I prefer the wood-look of the HP-3.
Also, they are out of budget (and the link rmsanger shared is shipping to US only, I live in Tokyo).

How were you able to get a 150 CAD discount on them?
Seems like they also ship to Japan (albeit I would need to contact them to make a special arrangement), so I might want to look in on this.

EDIT: Nevermind, I put it in the cart and for some reason, the price was reduced to 1250 CAD.
Was also used a coupon to knock it down to 1180 CAD.

BTW there is a brand new pair of Oak HP-3 at Audio Advisors for 800 USD if anyone is interested.
(received a estimate of $300 USD to ship to Japan so I gave up on this one).

If you look at that list, there is a DAC and amp problem with his headphone setup. Look at how all the harder to drive and picky headphones that other people love are pushed down lower. So look at his source gear and that list is probably accurate for that gear only. Totally understand the buyers remorse.

Another listing popped up and says ships anywhere.

What was the coupon code? I might try and price match my recent order.

Edit: Nevermind I double checked my invoice I did use a coupon code (MAYO -$65.78) totaling 1,183.22.

Oh wow, that is good timing, thanks!
Considering the base price, it would probably total out to the same price as a brand new HP-3 when I include shipping, taxes, etc. Will need to consider this as well.

Does anyone have both and can give a some comments/comparison?
(looks wise, I do prefer the Ebony HP-3)

Noticed you are using the HP-3 with a Sabaj D5 in the line; have you tried the HP-3 directly out of the D5? Currently also looking at the D5 and Toppings DX7S, although I still think the ADI-2 wins in terns of versatility (and form factor).

Havenā€™t had a chance to plug directly into the D5 yet. Hoping to play with these a bit more this weekend.

Nice, would be great if you can post any findings!

Hi guys,
Just joined. Iā€™ve bought them open box ā€œas newā€ in ebony for $750 including shipping.
However, just as they were heading my way, I found this bargain for a brand new:
https://www.tcacoustic.asia/klipsch-heritage-hp-3-headphones.html
With worldwide DHL shipping (not cheap), they end up costing 768USD, due to enormous discount.
I hope this makes someone happy!
Ziza

Edit: unfortunately it is no longer available!
