Thanks for this info.
Does anyone have experience with TC Acoustic? Iām really interested in this pair but donāt want to jump the gun.
EDIT: I think you made 2 people happy, as I contacted TC Acoustic a couple hours ago and they said the 2 Ebony they had in stock were sold out this morning =/
I should have jumped on them the second I saw your post!
The ebony wood is VERY dark, like if anything short of natural light is hitting it directly you can hardly even tell youāre looking at wood. Iām a sucker for the black and copper combo though so I still love them. If you want the wood itself to stand out though I would rec one of the other colors.
I have the ebony as well and I do not share that view point. As someone who had to open up their HP-3 to fix it, I also question if the are made out of real wood.
Itās fine, I guess Iāll just have to wait for another opportunity.
I was originally just going buy them at MSRP of $1150~$1200 USD, but after seeing Adorama, TC Acoustic, and other stores selling them for much less, I donāt think I can convince myself to buy them at $1000+.
I fully agree. However, it looks like they are discontinued for there is no support, no spare parts and most of those you buy today are a actually made back in 2017. So, Iād expect some more discounts at first cause resellers would want to get rid of the stocks. However, if the appeal remains, availability will become scarce and we may see the next price boom wave, while HP-3 would acquire some sort of legendary status.
Who knows.
As I said, I bought them āas newā open box for 750$ including shipping. They really appear to be as new. Still waiting to see if there are any hidden flawsā¦
Are these really discontinued? I thought I saw somewhere that they are just experiencing manufacturing delays and that they should be in stock in July though.
Definitely agree with you on your point regarding upcoming discounts or the contrary, price boom.
I wouldnāt mind a ālike newā pair as long as the price is reasonable and all accessories, including the box, are included.
I will probably be checking this thread everyday so if sees a good deal on a pair of Ebonys, please let me know! I will post if I find any good deals on Walnut or Oak.
When I contacted Electronics for less Canada about my order delay they worded their response in such a way that it seemed they were drop-shipping directly from Klipsch. That is to say EFLC didnāt have stock on hand they were being supplied directly from Klipsch.
Thank for the offer Nijaz. I ordered it a couple hours after you posted, but they refunded me this morning. Iām sad because the total was $666. I doubt there will be another sub $700 offer again. I wanted ebony because it would match the Dekoni nuggets if I needed it.
I guess this is a good time to re-evaluate my next headphone. Does anyone have a good comparison between HP-3 and Aeolus? Theyāre very similar and the Zeos review made it sound like HP-3 was better in a lot of ways. The Aeolus would never go down to $700, but it has a more comfortable headband and easier to replace pads. I have the Eikon, so I made peace with the HP-3 because I thought the Aeolus might be too similar to Eikon compared with the HP-3. What is the Aeolus better at? Which one is better at bass/detail, etc? I have multiple headphones, but Iāve been missing a good, punchy bass while still retaining clear vocals and detail.
Hi Gimpspoon,
If you finally get it, please check the declaration of authenticity, and I bet it would say they were made by hand on date so-asd-so in 2017
Iām getting the HP-3ās next week (got them from a previous link in this thread for 800), and I have the Aeolus. Iāll let you know what I find in a few days!
Thanks!
Iāve actually also been looking through eBay and had been eyeing these.
However, after shipping and taxes, the total cost comes out to be only around $40 less than a brand new pair I can get locally (I live in Japan).
Does anyone know for sure if DAPs balanced OUT and and balanced cable can safely be used with HP-3 and would there be any audible benefit? In one Q&A page I found the info that these headphones are not balanced. Is it true? Elsewhere Iāve found that connecting non balanced headphones to the balanced out could damage the amplifier. It that true?
I have a balanced DAP and balanced cable that has plugs that look identical to HP-3 plugs (itās MEZE 99 balanced cable), but Iām reluctant to try Before I make sure no harm will be done!
