Klipsch owners thread

Looks very promising. Death to soundbars!

I’ve got my Heresy III’s up on stands. Zeos was right about getting them up off the floor…

The sound is affected differently on the HERESY speakers depending on location and placement. I am reinforcing the bottom end of my system with a pair of subs plugged and tuned up higher in the frequency range along with an electronic crossover cutting frequencies below 55hz off from the Heresy’s. The towers i’ve created also have to ability to be rolled forward, back and side to side Which affects Imaging, soundstage, bass output, and depth particularly for different genre’s and allows for best placement depending on the music. The pre-amp i am using also allows for a bypass mode to allow the speakers to be used for HT where the subs are run by the AVR instead of me which yet again changes the SQ and allows for integration to the source. If nothing else this is one of the MOST versatile speakers I have ever used. YMMV, this set-up takes work on my part but offers results that are easily appreciated.

Would love to know more about your experience with the electronic crossover, what when were how. I’ve been thinking about the idea of it and how much of an improvement it would be.

I used to swear by active crossovers in an automobile installations and the efficiency gained not driving small speakers in an area they had no business trying to reproduce. Not much adoption by the industry for in home or high end.

@db_Cooper, The Heresy have a roll off around 50hz, In my room i have found them to sound best when cut off just a bit over that range at about 55hz and reinforced by the subs up to 90hz. The subs are monoprise monolith 12” with a single plug in each of their Dual ports inserted. Depending on how close to the wall the speakers are located the very low bass output can be increased or decreased in relation to the musical genre being played. Heavy rap, techno, EDM, pop, Orchestral etc. require Placement closer to the walls. Blues, jazz, soul, vocals, Indie, Classical, Latin etc. get pulled further into the room, HT movies stay right next to the shelves evenly NO toe in.
Light toe in of the speakers gives me the soundstage and imaging i like, which is actually thrown forward and center by Heresy speakers not behind, with a wide soundstage bubble easily a few feet out to the left and right of the speakers. They disappear easily and make it feel like a band is playing in the room right in front of the couch. Imaging is not as tight as some other speakers i’ve used but nonetheless will allow you to pick out instruments in the air more often than not especially when paired w/ the Glow tube amp and some good NOS tubes i have in it. FYI of course SQ is dependent upon MY ear and preference for certain frequencies and Sound signatures.

I currently use the Parasound P5 as my pre-amp which has a low and high pass x-over built in, i have a secondary Rolls/Bellari crossover that i have used in the past w/ different amplifiers to help me add the subs and high pass bookshelves i’ve integrated into the room for music listening. True high end actively crossed over home speakers are out there if you really want to go that route and have the patience and time and want to do some DIY.

I am very interested in these. Kinda torn between the finish options. Glad the black is smooth and not wood grain, seen it too much and it looks cheap to me now.

Yes actually, i care very much. I push Heresy I’s reinforced with a pair of monolith 12” subs and enjoy them most of the time, i keep a pair of different style towers in reserve for select moments and moods, i would like to hear your impressions, experiences and feelings on your new kit and how they work out for you.

Seven days on now and getting a feel for them. Initially I was disappointed in the top end being recessed. It took me a couple days to realize I needed to reverse the cables (preamp inverts phase) then AHHH. Top end!

So first and foremost, for comparison’s sake: the outgoing speakers have a 7” woofer, front firing reflex port rated -3db @50hz. The Heresy IV has a 12” woofer, rear firing rated at -4db @48hz so, on paper they are fairly even. Well I’ll tell you the Klipsch have BASS.
Andrew Robinson and I think that Shawn/Sean guy mentioned not really needing a sub
And I totally see that. My room is where bass goes to die and honestly I could get by without. Now I live with shared walls so I can’t bang the sh*t out of Run The Jewels at high levels but yeah. Excellent bass.
Tonally speaking, a much warmer sound than I was expecting. They sound very full and the more I turn them up the more they want to get ass nasty (in a good way). They can rock out.

I’m driving them with an Odyssey Khartago stereo with a bunch of upgrades and a Quicksilver Audio Line Stage Preamp (with RCA black plate 12AT7’s replacing the stockers ). Wayyyyyy overkill yes. But initially I wasn’t even looking at Klipsch. Only complaint about the pairing is the Odyssey is a high gain amp so there’s tube hiss barely audible at the sitting position. I put some Rothwell -12db attenuators and it killed that, but also cut dynamics and that forwardness that I crave. Maybe I’ll try some -6 but I’m getting used to it.
As other reviewers have noted I seem to keep nudging the volume up. They sound good and have bass at low levels but the magic increases as the volume increases (like my weight).

I’m at about 60 hours on them now so there’s potentially more settling. I did have to move them a couple more inches from the front wall lately as the bass seem to fill out.

Records that sound amazing on the Klipsch:
Pantera Vulgar Display of Power
Gene Ammons Boss Tenor
Fearing Shadow
Frank Black S/T
The Cult Sonic Temple
Type O Negative October Rust
Steve Kilby + Martin Kennedy You Are Everything

Albums that sound…off
U2 War
Bob Mould Black Sheets of Rain
Peter Murphy Deep
Now some thoughts on why these sound off: though all these albums I’ve owned on cd, cassette and now vinyl and have heard on many systems, my previous speakers I’ve had longer than any component. They are very tweeter focused speakers and so I think I’m so used to a very “ripped up” presentation that it colors my memory of how they should sound. Both the Mould and Peter Murphy has cymbals that seemed “brassy”. Maybe that’s how it is and I’m just now getting that, I don’t know.

Anyway, that’s it for now. If you want more specifics on pressings of the records I listed or more details on equipment let me know. I can say they do well with everything: Napalm Death, Godflesh, Lingua Ignota, Concrete Blond, Miles Davis, Shellac, 60’s and 70’s reggae and dub. EVERYTHING.

Hello everybody
Im looking to buy the klipsch 6000f but I need a cheap amp to tie me over before I have the budget to buy a more expensive amp. I am checking out the smsl sa300 or smsl sa-98e. Would these work on these speakers? What other cheap amps do you guys recommend?

Hey, what is exactly your budget? I own a pair of Klipsch speakers as well and with budget SS amps, they can sound a bit harsh, bright, and forward. I had the best results with a warmer SS or a tube amp. Fortunately, it’s still very doable since Klipsch are quite efficient speakers.

Less than $200.

RP600m, R15, R100SW.

I finally pulled the trigger on the rp-6000f. Would the parasound 2125v2 match well with the bifrost 2 and the saga+? Or would the denafrips ares ii be better?

Yeah I think so as long as you aren’t minding that warmer tilt, should be pretty great

I also want to feed the dac to my headphone amps (rebel amp, violectric v280, darkvoice) which dac would be better? The denafrips ares ii or bifrost?

So the bifrost can output on both xlr and rca without performance penalty, so in that regard that would be better than the ares ii. You can run the vio direct to the bf2 via xlr, but regarding the other amps, would you run them through the preamp or try and split off? I will say though that the bifrost might sound a bit too smooth with the vio

So what dac would you recommend to work well with the parasound and violectric?
