I noticed recently that my 95x has developed a light whine in the left side. Whats the warranty on these? maybe i can send them in to get fixed? or is it just dust on the film? maybe i can clean it off?

If you have compressed air try blowing them out, electrostatics are sensitive to dust and if dust gets in the driver it will make a wine or hiss. So you may find it will disappeared once you do that. It also may go away with some time if that doesn’t work

They have a lifetime warranty. I believe that you will deal with Drop for the first 30 days and get a replacement.

oh yeah thats right. guess i’ll shoot off a mail to koss

I would just almost max it out to make sure the separate dials are aligned and there isn’t an imbalance

Yeah you can max out the energizer no problem, that’s what I do with mine as well because I hate that volume knob lol

It’s pretty much good out of the box, just use it for awhile to get used to the signature and sound, but there really isn’t a significant burn in time with them

If you wanna add some fun to them consider boosting the bass some, it takes as like a champ. I like about 6db under 100hz to add some punch but not enough to muddy the waters of the mids and treble. Also seal and head position matters with them too.

Is there still a seal created on your head with them?

Yes, but it really shouldn’t matter too much. Your headband is pushed up all the way?

I just want to mention that after like some months, these are still amazing in details like for example, I played this game recently called bug fables and it has a VERY bright ost, the difference with the 95x vs the 58x is remarkable with the details just coming out like crazy in the percussion.

Awesome game and ost btw

Leave just a little bit off the volume at the end. I like to go to about 80% max on my amplifiers just so they have some headroom to play with and to avoid distortion in case i manage to start maxxing out volume on the other end.

its interesting you should mention that LoL
i found that out of everything I have, I’ve kept the HE4XX and ESP95X on my desk the most… it’s a nice comparison to have both on hand for different types of music

I used gaffer tape on my volume nob. works really well. has a texture that make it easy to get a grip and comes off easy

Did you mod your 4xx? If yes what did you do and why please…

Does removing foam/grill modding the 4xx open up the sound more? I had to do that with the 560, but just curious as thats a good price for a planar and would be good to have around if ti would help it…

Yes, it’s similar to the 560 for mods, so you can change out the grill and other things if you want and it will react similarly to the 560

The only things I did were Dekoni LCD-2 elite perforated pads, grille mod, and a Periapt cable (for convenience).
I think out of all of those the pads changed the sound the most.

Also I just picked up the dekoni pads for the 95x so I will have to see how that turns out (in a month when massdrop ships lol)
