Looks sleek, is this a part swap from other colors or a custom paint job?
Iāve also said that I feel like my pair is a lemon, but at the same time nothing seems broken, so I have no clue. I really like the porta pros though.
Grabbed some 2-pin and mmcx adapters but Iām just going to go with fixed cable. Much more durable and theyāre not being used for portable use anyway. If you donāt care about the original pads, I highly recommend cutting them off so you can see exactly where the clips are that you need to press. More likely to brake them trying to feel around for it.
The silicone strap was taken from the beige colored KPH30i. The silicone sides I painted, and the pads are black YAXI pads.
@kcrack so there is a way to safely remove the silicone strap! Mind sharing some tips?
Iāve been trying to do it too so I could spray paint and sand my repaired headband cos the epoxy job i did is pretty messy.
Also like to try something like this from Z:
I have no idea how the headband didnāt snap with that middle bend lol?
The silicone strap is held in place with an oval hook. Just unhook it. Zeos used a heat gun to melt his headband.
Could someone link me the video of V modding his pair, please.
Can only find the review in his channel
I donāt think there was a video on it, only mention that he used a heat gun and was extremely careful not break it. The silicone comfort strap is removed and he put dekoni nuggets on the headband.
No worries. Yeah, Iām looking to slightly ease the clamp pressure on mine too. I might just try a hair dryer first and take my time with it.
Mine arrived today - holy crap the cable is shit for desktop use
Tried to pawn them off to the gf instead of the porta pros⦠ended up pawning off the Fidelio X2sā¦
Now I have to try to get her to like her WH-1000XM3s more
Bottom half of the cable is actually not bad, but they shit the bed at the split point.
True its so annoying
Iām dying
Iāve been experimenting with EQ for the KPH30i, and I think I have a pretty good neutral profile going on:
Preamp: -3.5 dB
Filter: ON LSC Fc 100 Hz Gain 1 dB Q 0.7
Filter: ON PK Fc 150 Hz Gain -3 dB Q 0.5
Filter: ON PK Fc 3200 Hz Gain 2.5 dB Q 2
Filter: ON HSC Fc 10000 Hz Gain 3 dB Q 1
To my ears, the mid bass at 150 Hz is just a bit too boomy, so a -3 reduction really helps with bass and lower mids clarity. Also, the area around 3-4 kHz sounds too recessed if youāre used to something neutral/forward like a 58X or Sundara. Lastly, EQing the treble air above 10kHz really helps if you want more detail.
i also have the KPH30i! I use them with my Chord Mojo outside. Living in germany, i even paid a bit of a premium for them and i have to say - it was worth every penny. Itās so satisfying when you find out that all the hype is just legit. Sure, there will always be people that want more of something about the sound, that will prejudge them for their build/looks etc. but to me, their build, weight and price compared to their performance - thatās just mindblowing. I really like the way they get certain frequencies and details into your ear, also the amount of bass. These things are the GOAT.
Finally got around to re-cabling mine. Didnāt bother with MMCX mod (did that for the PX100 instead), and as theyāll only be used for indoors anyway, this wired cable worked out nicely. Yaxi pad replacement, and fake Sennheiser headband pads too.
A small but worthwhile little change.
That looks amazing!
Just saw this! Awesome
