I donât think there was a video on it, only mention that he used a heat gun and was extremely careful not break it. The silicone comfort strap is removed and he put dekoni nuggets on the headband.
No worries. Yeah, Iâm looking to slightly ease the clamp pressure on mine too. I might just try a hair dryer first and take my time with it.
Mine arrived today - holy crap the cable is shit for desktop use
Tried to pawn them off to the gf instead of the porta pros⊠ended up pawning off the Fidelio X2sâŠ
Now I have to try to get her to like her WH-1000XM3s more
Bottom half of the cable is actually not bad, but they shit the bed at the split point.
True its so annoying
Iâm dying
Iâve been experimenting with EQ for the KPH30i, and I think I have a pretty good neutral profile going on:
Preamp: -3.5 dB
Filter: ON LSC Fc 100 Hz Gain 1 dB Q 0.7
Filter: ON PK Fc 150 Hz Gain -3 dB Q 0.5
Filter: ON PK Fc 3200 Hz Gain 2.5 dB Q 2
Filter: ON HSC Fc 10000 Hz Gain 3 dB Q 1
To my ears, the mid bass at 150 Hz is just a bit too boomy, so a -3 reduction really helps with bass and lower mids clarity. Also, the area around 3-4 kHz sounds too recessed if youâre used to something neutral/forward like a 58X or Sundara. Lastly, EQing the treble air above 10kHz really helps if you want more detail.
i also have the KPH30i! I use them with my Chord Mojo outside. Living in germany, i even paid a bit of a premium for them and i have to say - it was worth every penny. Itâs so satisfying when you find out that all the hype is just legit. Sure, there will always be people that want more of something about the sound, that will prejudge them for their build/looks etc. but to me, their build, weight and price compared to their performance - thatâs just mindblowing. I really like the way they get certain frequencies and details into your ear, also the amount of bass. These things are the GOAT.
Finally got around to re-cabling mine. Didnât bother with MMCX mod (did that for the PX100 instead), and as theyâll only be used for indoors anyway, this wired cable worked out nicely. Yaxi pad replacement, and fake Sennheiser headband pads too.
A small but worthwhile little change.
That looks amazing!
Just saw this! Awesome
The Grado pad upgrade was exactly the comfort mod i needed for mine, very pleased. I often wonder why I âneedâ some of the other HPâs I own, especially after this inexpensive and painless mod. Itâs weird playing $40 headphones through $5k ++ worth of equipment something so wrong about itâŠ
Funny to think it took me years to order a currently $20 headphone. Will be nice to have this with my ksc75. Hope this makes me sell my other headphones.
GuysâŠhelp meâŠthere is a Koss KPH30i available here now from an online store that legit sells these. For Godâs sake I have a KSC75 this year and now the Koss KPh30i is like âYouâre curious about on how I sound right? buy me slave!â
Oh god the options right now, especially this coming Christmas.
Dewit.
Similar/slightly worse technicality and a warm sound. A good contrast to the KPH30i. Honestly, if itâs more accessible to you the Porta Pro is pretty similar to the KPH30i, soundwise. I found a slight difference, but they share an overall similar signature.
I think we should all sue zoes for this⊠I CANâT STOP PAD SWAPPING!
out of curiosity tried a few of the pads I already own that fit (somewhat). the most interesting so far has been the Dekoni for the HD 25, and it fits
-
Comfort-wise - amazing, the clamp (my KPH30I are a little stretched), just enough to hold them firmly on my head but feeling almost no pressure
-
Sound-wise - the sound stage feels even larger, Bass gets a boost and is very impactful, but the overall sound is a bit muddled but I kind of like it, its an interesting and really fun amount of âDirtyâ, to me the highs are much more under control.
P.S. I bought them for a different set of headphones, but I think I found them a permanent home (bought 2 more sets of KPH30Iâs just to keep things âfreshâ, one to keep stock and the other to try out more stuff
