đŸ”¶ Koss KPH30i

Keep it that way if you break something you have a back up

Well Koss also has their warranty, and $30 is fairly replaceable, even though that’s not cheap for me.

Was tinkering with a third set of KPH30i’s and found that if you bend the plate holding the driver and push against the driver itself you can easily pop them out to perform the Kramer mod on the the drivers.

Saw a Fibonacci grill design on thingiverse and going to print these out for fun and see if they make a difference or might shove in a pair of Porta Pro drivers I have sitting around. I tried test fitting them and they swapped right in.

Behold, the KSC75 driver drops right in. Just had to cut off the little tab that holds the ear hooks onto the drivers. I dub thee the KPH75i lol

Just bought 2 sets of these off Amazon for the kiddos. Starting them out right! Obviously I will have to try them out first to make sure they are suitable.

Fantastic choice :ok_hand:

I actually like the KSC75 more. If you want detail and good imaging with nice mids and amazing highs, get those too for only $14 on Amazon.
Even though the KPH30i is quite dark and warm on comparison, they are definitely fun and have great bass. Great for the price.

Kph30i will be an easier form factor for kids though
maybe a tad more durable and harder to misplace as well lol

Did the mod improve the sound? I think the 75 is the titanium driver correct?

That is what exactly what I did at the beginning of the school year. I let one kid take it to school, but I kept one for myself instead of giving it to my other child.

Recently they started to disappear. I found wife using them. I guess better these than my other stuff. It also means time for another round of Koss’.

Ok wtf?!. How do these library headphones sound so good? I’m really impressed with these. If only these were better built.

My two pairs for the kiddos came in today! They were walking around with them on their heads all evening, then when they went to bed daddy got a turn. Listening to them now and they are really fun! Not the most detailed and clean I’ve ever heard, but man it’s fun to jam out with these.

I can’t say simply swapping in the KSC75 drivers into the KPH30i ear cups improved the sound. It just sounded like a pair of KSC75 drivers inside a KPH30i headband. A lot more detailed and the highs really sparkled from the titanium coated drivers. I ended up performing the Kramer mod on the KSC75 drivers to boost the mids and low end. Now I’ve got the high/details with nice mid and low end representation.

Well because of the headband and clamp etc. I would think the bass improved. I like the 75 driver and think with that extra oomph it would be really nice.

I did a test fit and really pressed the 75 drivers against my ears and didn’t notice a huge improvement. Honestly the swap is so easy you should try picking up a pair of 30i’s and some 75’s and give it a go. If you’re not satisfied pop off the grills and drill out holes using a 1/8 drill bit on the outer most layer if you want more low end. Drill out the middle ring if you want more mid.

I kind of like having the KSC75 as ear hook headphones though. Doesn’t get stuck in my hair.

Is it possible to replace the stock foam on the 30i after removing them?
BTW I sort of took a trial test and made the foam scratchy to the driver when putting them on my head, sort of made it looser than the stock untampered side. I’m hoping this is normal with any pads after removing them, even with yaxi pads on?

Pad stretching is pretty normal. The stock pad and Yaxi pad will stretch out over time after use. If you pad swap to yaxi pads just make sure to stretch the pad evenly over the little teeth. I was able to reuse the stock pad all the same. As long as it’s not completely torn up you should be able to reuse them.

Use the Yaxi Pads, they should be good.
