Let's talk about computers

alleged 5090 is 2x 4090 perf but I would expect maybe around 30% uplift outside of the newer dlss + framegen and even with those 2x seems to be a bold claim lol

2x if you use DLSS(4.0) Performance. With the Max Frame-Gen tech. I can believe that. But yeah, 20-30% over last gen pure raster is probably about right.

Nvidia - the frames are made up and the rate doesn’t matter lmao

I didn’t watch it but I can summarize it what that one is all about, along with Nvidia’s competitors with one word, AI.

AI this, AI that, AI fucked your mom now give me money because you’re gonna buy our GPUs anyway sucker! Because of that, I am no longer excited on most PC parts anymore thanks to this recent bullshit. Also 5070 has the equal of a 4090 or was it the 3090? Too good to be true, therefore it’s just bullshit again.

sigh Yeah I am sticking with my current GPU for many years to come, for I am overall satisfied still with it. Also VRAM is not gonna matter in the long run if most games that are being produced are purposely released as a broken unoptimized mess. I’d take game optimization more than ever than an excuse for me to get a new GPU due to me lacking VRAM.

Me crying cuz I really do need an upgrade for my decade+ pc…
i5 4670k + gtx1060 6gb…im resorting to overclocking my cpu and cant get 60fps in poe 2 at minimum settings -.-

Am looking at a Ryzen 7600 + Intel B580…but that B580 seems to have some big issues where it isnt performing well unless u have a top tier cpu -.-

Yeah that is the unfortunate part about the B580, is its driver issues again for I wanted it to do so well for I am tired of both Nvidia and AMD’s bullshit. But I am hoping at some point that the Intel drivers for the B580 constantly gets support and improvements for yes Nvidia and AMD, budget PC owners exists.

In 1956, IBM introduced a groundbreaking innovation: the 5MB hard drive. This was a revolutionary advancement in data storage, offering an unprecedented capacity for its time. Housed in a massive cabinet, the IBM 305 RAMAC hard drive weighed over a ton and was about the size of a refrigerator, yet it could hold the equivalent of 5 megabytes of data—an amount that seems minuscule by today’s standards but was a monumental leap forward in computing.

The 5MB IBM hard drive was a key component of the IBM 305 RAMAC, one of the first computers to use a hard disk for data storage. Prior to this, data had to be stored on punched cards or magnetic tapes, which were much slower and less reliable. The hard drive allowed for quicker access to data, transforming how businesses could store and retrieve information, laying the foundation for the future of computing.

Though large and costly by today’s standards, the 5MB IBM hard drive marked the beginning of the digital storage revolution. It demonstrated the potential for computer data storage and paved the way for the development of more compact and efficient storage devices, ultimately leading to the advanced technologies we rely on today.

Honestly im not sure if this is a driver issue or not, this didnt happen with the previous gen after all. But I will wait a few more months to see what happens before I pull the trigger, having waited more than a decade to upgrade, a few more months wont hurt…probably…

not interested in Nvidia atm but hoping the rumors about one of the new AMD cards being a better 7900GRE for cheaper are true

Yeah, dont wanna support such a greedy company…its people that keep buying from them thats the reason why they can keep ramping prices up…

I am not hoping anything at all anymore, I have given up keeping up with the latest tech for I know I wouldn’t be able to afford it within a reasonable budget. Also I wanted to spend that amount of money on more important things like food, water, home, car, bills, and more stuff that are much more important now than a fucking GPU that’s gonna last you for like what? 5 years?

Also when it comes to upgrading parts, I will now only upgrade when my PC just stops working or breaks. Also if I were you, I am not gonna trust AMD, in fact I am not gonna trust a company at all.

What cpu and gpu do u have? Would you upgrade if u had mine? (i5 4670k + gtx 1060 6gb)

5800X3D and 3080. So yeah I don’t have the reason to upgrade for now. Also yeah sure, better to have a PC than not having one at all, maybe that is just my frugal side being more apparent nowadays. I hope at some point you’ll get an upgrade that you need but so far it hasn’t been that easy, especially to those who are more cautious about their financial situation.

Oh yeah If I had yours I would keep it for another 5 years probably lol.

You can at least play anything u want I bet. Hope either Intel improves the B580 via driver updates (im on linux so praying) or/and amd comes out with an actual rival to it…

idk AMD’s top end mobile APU’s seem pretty sick (up to 30 GPU cores now compared to 8 last gen) if they release an even higher end or just a higher wattage one for desktops might be a worthy AIO upgrade for you

You mean their top tier ones right? I dont want to spend that much so a B580 rival is fine for me.

usually the desktop ones are $200ish for the highest end option but if they do a desktop one with the crazy graphics I’d guess $350ish but for a solid CPU with newer 7600 tier graphics built in that sounds pretty good
