Any news on the latest drivers of Nvidia cards? Are they still that bad today? I have recently received the latest driver update notification from my NVCleanInstall program and I am not thinking about updating to that version right now, before there is a confirmation if it is safe to do so.
Early reports are looking promising. I decided to go ahead and install it to see for myself. It’s only been a couple of hours, but it’s been good so far. I’d give it a couple of days for more reports to filter in. I’ll try to remember to give an update this weekend.
Thanks, but as for me, I am going to skip this one for now for I wanted to be sure about it.
Dont change whats not broken.
Valid advice, I will. Also Nvidia being Nvidia again releasing a piss poor attempt of a card which is the 5060Ti, especially the 8GB version. On how I wish for a legit competition against them so that they can stop their bullshit, and I am fucking frustrated for the budget PC users.
16gb 20% uplift over 4060ti, if it can be found for msrp is solid but 8GB isn’t worth unless only playing older games/1080p
Both Nvidia and AMD still scamming people with 8GB vram…
Yeah I went and bought the B580 with the AMD 7500F, still came out to 1400 usd…(that 4TB nvme was pricey)
I bought the parts to build a monster gaming PC. parts are used, but from a source I trust. to buy everything new would be 3x what I paid, so a real screaming deal. specs will be:
CPU - Intel Core i9-13900K w/contact plate
HSF - Noctua NH-D15s
MOBO - MSI Z790 Edge WiFi
RAM: 32GB (2x 16GB) Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-6000
SSD: 2TB Samsung 980 NVMe SSD
GPU: Asus Prime RTX 4070 Super OC
Case: Phanteks XT Pro Ultra Mid Tower
PSU: Asus ROG Strix 1000w
- got all this for $1375.00 CAD, which works out to be around $994.00 USD.
and via a deal at Costco Canada, I nabbed a gen 1 MSI Claw 7" for $400.00 CAD vs. its regular $900.00 price.
Same case as I ordered. Do you dare to use an intel 13th gen though? Heard they got lots of issues…
if you run the micro code patch Intel has released, they’re fine. if they have been damaged by the fault though, because the issue resulted in physical damage occurring, it’s hooped.
what do you like / not like about the case?
Im still waiting for 1/3rd of the parts to arrive before I can build it. So its just sitting sealed away still, havent done anything more than press the power button one too many times lol. Much better as it actually gives a tactile feedback and sound, than my current ancient case (Corsair 200R) that feels terrible.
Oh and I plan to follow this build guide basically.
what are you putting into it? what do you have for a CPU cooler?
I would probably just play fucking older games at this point until the day I die. PC building today is not really fun anymore.
So far, I’ve experienced no black screens, crashes, or any of the other issues that have been plaguing NVIDIA drivers this year with their newest driver. I’m am, of course, just one person but I did experience them on a previous driver.
What do people use to remote into your computer at home when you are not at home? I have been using Teamviewer for a while (free for personal non-commercial use), but it started suspecting me of commecial use, so it has started limiting the use.
So, is there a good free alternative? Was using a VNC client ages ago, but that never worked as smoothly as teamviewer did…
There seems to be some self hosted alternatives, this one comes up a lot.
I’ve used Tailscale and VNC for many years. Solid.
Certainly looks like it’s an issue with OC/fan control software. He shows that GPU-Z is reporting the correct temperatures. HWInfo64 probably does as well. I hate to say it, because it’s fun to heap hate on NVIDIA right now, but it’s the responsibility of ASUS, EVGA, MSI, etc. to make sure their software works properly.
