Need to update the kernel, it does seem to work on 6.11 but im pretty sure I saw Intel saying you need 6.12 or 6.13 at least…

Found it:

looks like it was 6.11

atm the only game I tried is No rest for the wicked and I had no issues.

Link?

I will avoid windows like the plague now. And if I really need it, I sure aint paying for it…

It can be any popular game benchmark you have.

Speaking of the 580, this video came out today. I really hope Intel doesn’t abandon the desktop GPU market. There’s been rumors constantly floating around suggesting they would.

So uh, there is now a new driver out for the Nvidia cards, and guess what? I didn’t install it and decided to skip the version as always, for I cannot really be sure anymore if the recent drivers are gonna be that damn stable anymore or whatever the fuckery Nvidia is doing right now, probably swimming on cash while wiping their asses with it.

So yeah, I am still sticking with 566.36 just to be sure unless there are some users that can assure me that the recent drivers are much more stable now.

Dont think they will ditch it.

Celestial and Druid should be very interesting.

Only thing I dont like atm is that it seems none of my monitoring tools like CoolerControl and Psensor doesnt even detect the card.

Ok so, I definitely do not recommend the B580 if you are using Mint or any other distros that arent using a relatively new Kernel (mint is on 6.11) as it seems to be the reason why I get screen tearing and unable to play directx12 games (like Marvel Rivals). Solved both issues I think now with Bazzite (kernel 6.14).

Still not sure why handbrake does not give me QSV or other hardware accel option though…

That’s rough. I think Mint nowadays is the number one recommended distro for new users.

For the quicksync encoder, you could try forcing it by using FFMPEG. It’s usually easy to figure out the command you need with the help of a AI chat.

It is and its for good reason as it is very stable, has a big community and isnt very hard to learn coming from Windows.

Will give it a try sooner or later.

Does anybody run an AMD GPU cause I will say the last few drivers for at least 4 months for me have been disastrous. I never experienced this much instability in and crashes before. Its just tons of BSOD issues if I try to have a browser tab on a separate monitor and another one full screen. Both VSync and amd chill does not work. I want to be able to use AMD Fluid Motion Frames 2.1 but everything else is unusable.

I haven’t had issues but I don’t use any of those features so I just install driver only usually

Speaking of drivers, it seems when I am using the latest drivers from NVIDIA, so far I haven’t encountered any failures, issues or bugs and I hope it remains that way. Also guys, keep that in mind that the Windows 11 that I am using remained as the 23H2 version instead of the 24H2, for I think that one is one of the factors on why some latest Nvidia drivers that are having issues.

Correct me if I am wrong though, for I am aware that the mileage of the user may vary, and it really depends.
