What exactly is happening when you try to turn it on?
There’s no reason a cleaning should harm it. I’d suggest first shorting the power on pins to verify it’s not the case button. Then pulling out the mobo and reconnecting everything if all else fails
Are you getting any diagnostic lights on your mobo?
no lights at all, also the fans are not turning just plain dead.
No power, like dead. I did all I can to make my rig work again but to no avail it does not work.
I know but it’s kind of my fault to begin with, I did the cleaning of my PC outside instead of inside the house, for I thought it’s going to be a sunny weather but the weather turned out to be rainy. So, yeah I should have not cleaned my PC while it was rainy instead waited for the right weather to clean it. Now all I can do is to send it to a technician just to see what’s the problem, if the assumption that I made are also the same assumption made by the technician aka the motherboard being dead, then I will just have to get a replacement motherboard.
And you said you checked with another known good psu?
yep and that PSU is working well as well as the main PSU of it. but it does not turn on my rig regardless.
And everything is securely plugged in, and the switch on the PSU is on?
Yes, unfortunately.
Have you tried powering it on by shorting the pins on the board, or just the power button?
yes I did, I did the screwdriver method does not turn on at all
At that point I’m guessing it’s either the CPU or mobo, unless someone else has any other ideas.
I just hope it is only the motherboard that will be needing of a replacement because otherwise, if the CPU is also broken then I will have to take my loses and just get 2 new components.
You don’t happen to have a spare of either of the components laying around, do you?
Unfortunately I do not have a spare AMD motherboard, for the current one I am using right now is an old Intel build that is not even good enough for gaming. Which I have to tolerate on using for now, also this one just does not have an SSD in order to be fast.
Hopefully they are good enough with a ultrasonic cleaner and able to save whatever components got water damaged. Your cpu hopefully should be fine if be worried about more exposed components like the GPU ram mobo and PSU.
Just a thought, compressed air (at least from those cans you buy) can make condensation. When i use them i always have the computer unplugged, and i wait a good 30min before plugging it in again. Never had any damage done that way, though i don’t really think that would be the problem here anyway…
As for what is damaged, i would guess motherboard or CPU… with faulty ram or other components i would guess you should get some sort of activity from the board when trying to turn it on…
same verdict as well, but I do hope my CPU still has the chance of being alive because if not, I would have to replace both or worst case scenario I would have to get an entirely new PC.
Usually you can get a reaction on just a mobo and PSU, it will fail to post to get BIOS on some but will attempt to power. You would need to feel comfortable taking the CPU / GPU / RAM out and being able to rebuild the PC when done. I would also remove the Mobo from the case to ensure no trapped water on the back side is just shorting it out to prevent from trying to power on. Ensure all components are dry as you rebuild (outside the case) to power on if the mobo comes to life with just the PSU attached.
As long as no capacitors are blown, you might get (extremely) lucky!
