PSA: final E eartips work so well for me on my S12, that I have to be careful removing them due to suction created by the excellent seal lol.

Listening to this track with bass boost on (aka Truebass on ifi Zen DAC) + S12 (modded with filter over front vent, Final E tips) == shakes my ear canals with bass. Holy cow

Agree, Final E eartips. I added an Olina filter on top of the metal screen and I think it knocks off the brightness a tad for my treble sensitive ears. Love it. I tried a Tan. Tanya filter and it reduced highs too much. YMMV

Maybe I’ll try the vent tape. Maybe I won’t.

I’ve seen others on this forum say something like the following: Between S12 and the Olina, I’m set for a while.

nice! In general, it seems like front vent taping / filtering has a stronger affect than adding a mesh on the nozzle. Maybe I should give it a try as well! @paulwasabii do you have the S12?

I decided to try the front vent mod by adding a Tanya filter and removing the Olina filter from the nozzle screen. I wish I could easily A/B the results. So far so good, though I’m not sure which I prefer. I like the detail and enhanced bass, but the detail may be too much for my dumb ears. I’ll see if I can’t get myself to become accustomed to it.

PSA: When removing filters from nozzle screen, pay attention to the metal screen itself. While removing one of the filters, the screen came off with it.

That didn’t take long. The treble was too much for my ears, so I added a small amount of foam from a foam earbud cover, inserted into each Final ear tip. I’m not sure if it matters, but I used a white cover versus the black covers. It looks like the white is slightly more dense, but I have no way to prove this. I took one foam cover and cut it into 1/8s, then cut the two layers in half and jammed each piece into the ear tip with tweezers, damping it into place. (I discarded the half with the hole the earbud is inserted into.) If this works, I may consider placing the foam under the metal nozzle vent, to prevent the foam from coming out while the iem is in my ear.

Not yet. A friend was sending his set around so I will get one for a short stay soon I hope.

In the video of the reviewer BGGAR of 50-300€ tops he puts the S12 and for example the Yanyin Cannon with the value of ā€œSā€ ahead of the Kato and the Timeless which have ā€œAā€.

In his drive ranking (which seems to be up to date) he puts the Timeless and the S12 on the same. The Cannon one category down and sinks the moondrop kato down.

I don’t get it at all. Even they contradict themselves with the damn tier lists.

S12 is more affordable so it sometimes gets credit for that. So maybe one is a price adjusted value scale while the other is straight up apples to apples.

He knocked the Timeless down mostly for their QA issues, and he said that in the video, but there are some contradictions beyond that.

His drive list shows the KATO below the T3+ and still doesn’t have the Hekili ( which he has talked about it three videos ). That is recency bias and other memory issues that we all deal with, and it isn’t like you can assess that many sets directly and actually compare them that way in a timeline for a video. It is all going to be based on memory.

Guys pls help me with PEQ for my S12…bit bass boost and reduce some harsh upper mids etc.

When i enter peq settings on my UAPP there are 6 band and 10 band settings not sure how to use them for S12…any suggestions of course with details how to set. Thanks for helping me out.

Try boosting lowshelf @ 125 a couple db and cutting 8000 a couple db and go from there

I actually just bought some Crystals. Should be coming in today, and I’m hoping they’re more comfortable than the Elastecs I have.

The Crystals hit a middle spot on the sticky/tacky scale between the Elastecs and the Spinfit. I am a Spinfit CP100+ and Final E guy, but the AZLA Crystal is a pretty good ear tip, and on my list if I am having fit issues.
