Looking for recomendations on audio(total noob) with a flexible budget $500~

On lower gain it’s not there at all unless I crank up the volume knob.

Which ohm variant Of the Beyers did you get again? It almost sounds like the amps is feeding to much power or the noise floor is just to high for the headphones to me

I have the 600 ohm version dt880 and the Xduoo XD 05 Plus

Oh so it shouldn’t be too much power then. I was thinking maybe you had the 32 ohm because that would cause it. Hmmmmmmmm have you tried other outlets? Could be a noisey outlet maybe? Do you have any devices that shoot out radio frequencies too close maybe? I know a router will jack up speakers but not sure for Amps.

I set up speakers for my brother once and spent hours trying to fix a hiss hum until I was like “god damn it, when I noticed he had a router like 1 foot from it hidden behind his monitor lol.

Oh man my grammar is starting to go out the door lol.

No the only thing I have near it is the GoXLR. Aside from that my keyboard and microphone are away from it. I have a monitor behind it so I don’t think that’s it either.

Well that surpasses my knowledge then. I don’t know much about the xduuo so I dint know if it tends to give off that noise. But mon wouldn’t suggest it if it was noisey. I feel your frustration though man. I had the hiss with my jot but the usb hub is what fixed that.

You just want more power imo, he is pushing the xduoo too far, it’s not an issue, you are just straining the xduoo here

Yeah I’ve been racking my brain over it for a little while. I really thought I could get used to it but after hearing it constantly when playing games or listening to music I gave up. I think it might just be the headphones being too good or the amp because it’s such a clear sssssss sound like low white noise.

Ahhhhh that would make sense. Have you tried the xduoo with any lower impedance headphones to see if they are quieter?

Is it still in the return window to try out a better dac and amp? Or would that go beyond your budget?

I am still in the return window. Are you thinking I should try some of the ones mentioned in the thread? The big thing for me right now is this thing was perfect because of it’s size so I’m kinda salty but we’ll see if it’s just the amp doing it.

I mean do you have other headphones on hand to just test if the sound goes away with less power hungry headphones?

Yeah I feel ya but it looks like it’ll be your best best to try a different amp if you can’t deal with the hiss.

A used ifii idsd micro or micro black label would be the cure for your issue imo. Thing can power like mostly anything if you needed portable

I have my old set lying around astro a40s

I thought I remembered him saying he didn’t necessarily need portable. I wouldn’t go portable if you don’t absolutely need it in my opinion. You’ll pay more for the power you need.

I was almost going to say to look into the Schiit Asgard with a dac for 50 more than the xduoo lol. But you want something smaller yeah?

Asgard 3 with the akm dac chip or the jds labs element ii are great integrateds

If you wanted a smaller stack, the magni heresy and topping d10 or smsl m100 is pretty awesome

Plus they’d have more power than you’d probably ever need lol. You’d be sitting at like 11:00 lol.

Yeah the portability factor was negligible tbh but I figured it’d be fine if I ever wanted to get some better gear in the future like those in ears. As long as there’s no hiss I’ll take em.

Ah ok then, so back to the getting a desktop amp and using the xduoo as a dac? (So you can have a portable if you need it)
