do I need another rca or can I use my existing one? I only have 1 rca cable right now
Uh I would believe you would just use the one you are connecting to your motherboard if it can connect
It would be the traditional left and right barrel jacks to the other left and right barrel jacks
I have the green line out going from my mobo to the red and white input on the liquid spark.
Ah, so you only have a 3.5mm to rca jack cable. You would want to get a traditional rca audio cable then if you wanted to do that. They can be had for pretty cheap
If you have any component video cables from a TV or DVD player those will work too
Well if I can get a better signal I might as well for $9
Then I would still be able to use my spark. I really don’t want it to go to waste
I might have an old old pair laying around somewhere I would have to dig around.
Yes of course lol, that should work just fine
Ill look around tomorrow and see if I have an extra pair laying around somewhere. I can’t look right now since people are sleeping.
Yeah, you might be able to find something lying around. I personally have buckets full of assorted cables that I don’t get rid of. Typically you might be able to find cables that would work with stuff like older consoles, TV’s, DVRs, dvd players, receivers, and other electronic devices like that
Yeah I use to have a pair from like 10 years ago. I’m not sure if I got rid of them or not. For now though which is the best connection for audio. Keep the headphones plugged into the UM2 or go back to the spark until I get a pair of rca cables, or there really ins’t much a difference?
Spark is better for now right?
I would say the spark will give you the better audio quality for now, I mainly just suggested you temporarily plugged into the um2 so you could experiment with gain and microphone placement to get it how you like it with direct monitoring, and then switch back to the spark when you got it all set up
I think its going to take a little time playing around to get it just right, but for now I think it might be okay. I wish I had a clear way of telling though. I’m getting tired my brain is starting to shut off. If i turn the gain off completely it wont pick up my voice right?
Correct, or it will be super quiet. Typically you just set and forget the gain if you keep the mic in the same place
Okay my main concern is limiting extra sounds like clicking, typing, or other desk sounds and such. I’m about to go to bed though its getting late, and my brain is fried for the day. I can mess more around with this tomorrow, and I’ll have much more time to play around with it than I did tonight. I had chemistry homework, so I wanted to get that done before I started setting up and messing with the mic. I had an hr or two left, so I decided to play around with it for a little bit. I’ll be back tomorrow and pick your brain haha. I’ll look for an extra rca cable also. Have a good night thanks for all the help.
So I found an old pair of cables for a portable DVD player. Yes a portable DVD player haha
These will be fine? Is there any difference b/w these and the amazon basic rca cables/is there even any difference?
So connect them from the UM2 into the back of the liquid spark. Do I connect them into the “P” or “I” side? The “I” side is currently connected into my pc. Keep that or do I have to switch it around. Now I reconnect my headphones back into the spark?
Those will work just fine, connect them to the I, and you should be able to reconnect your headphones back to the spark
There should be virtually no difference between those and the amazon basics cables
What about the rca to 3.5mm cable currently pluuged into the “I” side?
You don’t need that anymore, since you would set your default device for playback in windows to the um2
Okay, so the UM2 is a DAC, and the spark is still working as an amp? I unplugged the 3.5mm to rca from pc.
This is my connection:
MOBO > USB > UM2. UM2 > RCA > Liquid spark. Headphones plugged into Liquid Spark. Should I have the output on the UM2 all the way up? That knob affects my headphone volume along w/ the liquid spark volume knob. If I max the UM2 output, then just use the spark volume knob?
Yes, you would max out the output on the um2 and control volume with the spark
Okay makes sense I just didn’t want to cause damage or something if it was maxed out. Sounds good so far. I can’t hear myself from mic anymore though… Nevermind. If i have direct monitor pushed out I can hear myself, but if pushed in I cannot.
