Luxury Precision P6/P6 Pro R2R DAP

Another minor gripe. Wish it defaulted to usb dac mode not msc

In my experience the p6p brought out a lot more sense of space in a lot of the recordings I’ve listened to, even for ones that are so lo-fi you’d think there wouldn’t be much improvement.

Still enjoy listening to this dap a lot. I’m still interested in getting a new pair of iems but I haven’t stressed it too much because I haven’t focused on discovering new music lately and I’m just listening to whatever music I have already instead lol.

I think I’m gonna end up picking myself up a P6 Pro soon to replace my desktop and portable stuff. Does anyone use theirs as a desktop dac with more than one source? I currently use my bf2 through usb for meetings, and coax for music via my rpi streamer. I was thinking maybe do something like have a bta30 for my laptop to output Bluetooth to the P6P and usb to my rpi?

You’re wanting to send both at once and switch depending on which you need? I do use mine as my main DAC, but I’ve never tried doing that. I don’t know that it’s really a quick switch to go between Bluetooth and SPDIF. Could a USB switch possibly work, where you just push a button to switch sources?

Why didnt I think about doing it that way? I have been doing exactly that with my bf2 and peripherals between my work pc and desktop pc

I think I may be better using a dedicated usb switch for it.

I’ve also been trying to find a matching wood dock for it on my desk but no luck so far (got plenty time to look though)

I’ve used mine to completely replace my desktop setup as well. It was a nice upgrade for both of my amp and dac, but also had a nicer footprint (and it’s portable!)

Yeah I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, and now that I know that I prefer IEMs most of the time, I might as well go for what I’d be happiest with performance wise if I can afford it unfortunately means selling the HeK though

It was a hard decision, but I sold mine. You’ll have to reflect for a while if you’re going hp or iem. Ofc, you can still do both, but I focused a bit more on iems. Now, I don’t even use headphones anymore. I prefer the comfort of IEMs.
HEK was superb, but you’ll need to feed it a ton of electronics to get the most out of it. I actually enjoyed Utopia on it P6P more.

Yeah thats something I’ve found with the HeK too, although I haven’t powered it to anywhere near its full potential but I like the versatility of IEMs and DAPs compared to headphones and desktop gear. I think I’ll use speakers for what I get out of the HeK anyway for music.

Hoping to get something with a DD after getting the P6P, maybe a Fir VxV or even a Trinity

The only thing I think I’ll miss is streaming capability, but I’ll just have to make my library bigger or connect to a streamer/phone etc.

When LP can offer streaming and a UI along the lines of say a DX300 then I’m in :+1:

I’ve largely done the same at this point, though I do plan to keep the LCD-24 since they sound great on the P6P on its own, and Nighthawks for more fun.

Yeah I think I’ll probably come back round to headphones at some point, maybe something like a th900 or Diana v2

Yeah it would be real nice to have a DAP at the level of the P6P with streaming capabilities built in

Doubt that’s ever going to happen. Their proprietary os means its basicaly impossible. Tbh though, BT to p6p is better than the bit perfect streaming yo my sp1k anyways.

Also, just a heads up on using p6p as a desktop replacement. Usb is limited to 16/96 (yes, you read that right, 16-bit max). Imo, that is a massive limitation that makes its kind of untenable to be used primarily as a desktop dac. I hope the lp7ti removes that limitation tbh.

Yeah I saw about that, I do wonder how much difference it would make to me personally

Cayin are chasing with their N6ii Titanium… which is designed around R-2R ladder tech.won’t be too long before we have a full R2R with a good IU and streamable capabilities

Oh, I don’t doubt discrete r2r with streaming will happen, I just don’t think it will be L&P.

On a side note, I am pretty currious how that n6ti will perform. I’m guessing not p6p level, but its a very very interesting device.

The sample rate isn’t a big issue for me (higher would obviously be nice for some HQ player use, but they would likely need asio drivers as well), but like 40% of my library is 24 bit personly

I’m not even sure what percentage of my library is what sample rate  I need to get my stuff properly categorised etc too

You have roon? If so it will just tell you

Not yet, I’ve not really got enough of a library to justify it to myself yet, and I use Apple Music for streaming so wouldn’t really have the streaming functionality from Roon. I do use an RPi 4 with Volumio for my library

Yah. Roon having no plan to support Spotify lossless is a huge downside for me personaly. I currently use it with quobuz but they just flat out dont have everything
