That’s a killer! I’ve got a balanced dac (Topping D70 in my case) on a USPS vehicle somewhere to be delivered soon. It will sit in it’s box for literally months before my 789 arrives. Grrrrrrr.

This is sort of funny. I have so much audio gear in limbo right now. The d70 is on the way, the THX789, a set of Argons, and a custom cable all out there somewhere. Come home, mygear!!!

Its dual akm 4493 so the dac chips are very good (788). I have one and am very happy with it. Still waiting for my 789 lol.

For 1/4", the Atom has a little less power, but measures better by a hair. They are basically equal when it comes to the 1/4".

The THX and the Atom measure better, in terms of distortion and noise. Is that audible? Well, that could, and will be, debated until the internet runs out of ink.

Comfort over pain man. The Nueman’s gave me cauliflower ears and the treble on the DT-1990’s pierced my ear drums. Had the V-moda BoomPro mic I received worked, it arrived broken from Amazon, I’d be perfectly happy with the SHP9500 for gaming. Now I’m using the Beyerdynamic MMX 300 2nd Gen…AND not to mention Audeze will be releasing the LCD-GX soon! So I may be selling all my shit on ebay soon.

Hd800 are far superior for gaming especially competitve only problem is the room needs to be silent…

so,if i got a RME ADI-2 DAC,i don’t need other amps like THX 789?

You still need an XLR-in capable amp you if you want to use balanced headphones. Otherwise the RME integrated amp has plenty of power for most headphones unbalanced.
Also if you find the sound of the RME too “clinical” you might want to try hooking it up to a THX amp.
