Jeez, if you buy them you might as well keep them lol
now the question — what to do with my he4xx! lol
i have been a/b testing between the two and believe the 58x are much cleaner and bring me a little closer to the music.
Sell them before they break? Lol sorry, that’s harsh against Hifiman but…
Anyway, don’t “impulse sell” either, wait a bit and sell if you don’t need the he4xxs anymore
Aren’t the he4xxs planars? You might miss the planar bass/kick slam…
the planar bass is totally legendary… great point. will keep them for a bit
All you guys loving the 58x should apply oratory1990’s eq profile to them, and then tweak to your liking.
You can really make them come alive even more.
im trying to figure this out now
Shoot me a message if you need help. I fought with EQ APO quite a bit, but have it working good now.
Would make a good Youtube vid 5/7 would watch
haha i might actually do that!
I refuse to EQ perfection!
(To each their own obviously)
I tend to refuse to use EQs period.
Fail. Eq is awesome.
@BluJay614 @LeDechaine holy shit… try it though hahaha oratory1990 eq is like i am wearing a different pair of headphones… in a good way
I prefer not to EQ unless something doesn’t sound right. I have to EQ my LCDX-C to enjoy them, but I can usually deal with the quirks of most of my other headphones as the are, with one or two minor tweaks at the most vs a full remap like the X-Cs require.
I don’t want all my headphones to match a specific tonality. Doing that puts me in a position of defining absolutes where I would say “x” headphone is demonstrably better than “y” headphone. That would make sense if I only wanted one pair of headphones, but I prefer to have a variety to choose from depending on the genre I’m listening to or the mood I’m in. If they all sounded the same, or close to it, I’d feel silly about all the money I’ve spent on my collection.
It may be a bit of a purest kinda perspective, I guess, but if I want a certain sound signature, I’ll grab a pair of headphones that match what I’m looking for. Besides, I don’t like fucking with the sound quite like that.
I guess it’s like me not feeling the desire for a mixed drink when I do drink. I’d rather a shot of good whiskey, a glass of scotch on the rocks, or some wine rather then something mixed up. If I want something that tastes different, I’ll go for something that’s actually different, rather then try altering one thing into something else. If that makes sense.
We said more or less the same thing, but I prefer your analogy
why cant you use unbalanced headphones in a balanced port? dont you just need to get a balanced cable?
It doesn’t really work that way electrically…
Well if you have a balanced cable then there is no issue. If you try and use a balanced out on an unbalanced headphone you are pretty much shorting to ground and could damage the amp depending on the design
wait that seems to be a contradiction. what im saying is if my headphones came with no balanced cable and i buy one from amazon to fit to it, it should be ok right?
