Meze Audio 109 Pro

Which one though? But than again , i prefer these over some hifiman at this price or lower for both sound and build. Subjective

Hey @nurmbms, welcome to the forums. do you get any sibilance or fatigue from the treble? When you say ā€œairyā€ Iā€™m assuming thatā€™s a good sound for you?

Hi @alphamarshan . Thanks for the warm welcome. To be honest yes ā€œairyā€ means good sound for me . Some tracks (1-3 tracks) the vocals are a bit sibilant . Some instrument like the guitar sounds are abit too much. Not by alot . But it is the obvious ones . But mostly it is airy. It is pretty solid. To be honest, certain treble details, this thing captures so well than my Arya stealth. But that is just the treble side of things.

Thanks for the response - Iā€™m relatively sensitive to treble so these will probably end up being a pass for me since Iā€™ve now heard several reports where it was a little too sibilant on some songs; that means itā€™ll probably be too much for me too often.

@alphamarshan you can put it on tubes if you find it too sibilant . For me itā€™s great with solid states. Maybe due to my age. Iā€™m in my 30s . But then again yes I admit on the sibilant side of things but to me thatā€™s on super obvious tracks where they emphasise the ā€œSā€ super close to the mic. Or a loud cymbal. But most tracks like eg, audiophile tracks like yosi horikawa fluid and timbre plus chocolate chip trip by TOOL, these have no problems at all. But yeah to each their own . U can try audition it.Iā€™ve auditioned it and Iā€™m surprised by how well meze tuned it with their in house dynamic driver that is fast , accurate yet precise on the imaging , airy treble , plenty yet reasonable bass details . Sound staging is great. With a good midrange qualities and ear gain.

Hmmmā€¦ I do like the way these look. Will be nice to hear what Zeos has to say about them when his review releases.

Heā€™ll love them and post an affiliate link below, just like every product he reviews. But the ā€œreviewā€ will be entertaining, as always, so thereā€™s that.

Iā€™m taking odds of -200 that Z will say, ā€œThese are f*cking great ā€“ just buy them,ā€ at least once during his 109 Pro review. Sorry for the juice, probably not worth the squeeze, but it is the proper line.

To be fair to zeos his taste is a lot more ā€œpleasureā€, which is what Meze are known for.
its a balancing game, never trust a single reviewer, always listen to a bunch, But unlike tech stuff its a lot more taste, the whole point is figuring out which reviewers suit your taste and comfort (for example i dislike crinacleā€™s taste, the man is no doubt a professional but i disagree on taste)

Problem with zeos is that he always listens to random music through all kind of genres.
Thatā€™s why I like our residential iem guy hbb
You know his music and can at least extrapolate how it sounds :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

They arrived today!!!

That has been the general consensus Iā€™ve read so far. Many have said it sounds great, maybe not worth itā€™s full price, but still great none the less. Others have said itā€™s in the league of HD800s and Arya. I doubt itā€™s that good, but I havenā€™t heard anyone say they didnā€™t like it yet.

Iā€™ve never gotten to hear the 800 or the arya mostly because I donā€™t want to buy them lol.
So far what I can say is itā€™s not far off from my Aeolus.
Still listening and will give some final thoughts after a week. Iā€™ll be comparing directly to the other dynamic I have right now a th900 mk2.

Interesting comp to the Aeolus. Can you give some specifics on that comparison? Where is the Aeolus better? Where is the 109 better? How do the sound signatures, soundstage and imaging compare?

Thanks.

I wish I could give you a detailed breakdown but I wonā€™t have my Aeolus back till February, Iā€™m on a work trip. Right now Iā€™m going from memory, so with that said itā€™s a smooth like butter smooth. Itā€™s a low-end, mid heavy headphone that is really really enjoyable to my ears. It still has some sparkle up top but I wouldnā€™t call them airy.
I also wouldnā€™t say they are better than the Aeolus just a good option for the price.
Iā€™m still breaking them in so the should change a bit. People have reported hot treble but I definitely donā€™t have that issue with my set.

For me personally, this is the headphone of the year 2022.

Yes, there have been very good products from Focal, Audeze, Dan Clark and Hifiman, most of which are extremely expensive, technically superior and outstanding in specific sound regions.

But none of these bolides captivated me so much from the first note, plus this outstanding comfort and frugality in the selection of the drive source.

A dream for purists, for owners of powerful, expensive amplifiers, the 109pro causes a crisis.

There is almost no improvement in the sound of the Meze on a FELIKS Audio Envy (an outstanding amplifier).

The Meze sounds extremely good on an Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt and I always find it difficult to take off the headphones and forego their sound and comfort qualities.

None of the other new releases this year triggered that for me.

@hit_the_right_note I admired the classic from afar, then drooled when
this 109 hit the market, but have resisted.
Then I read THIS. Drat!
