I use an SMSL AD18 with these. It has great EQ features to add a little more punch and rumble to the low end. I usually use a +2 or 3 on the bass, and a +1 or 2 on the treble.
Has anyone got a good wall mount suggestion. I wish these had built in threads. They are pretty weighty!
Hi all, I’m probably the thousand person to ask this, but hey what’s this place for anyway huh?
So I’m torn between these paired with an SMSL amp (AD18 or SA300 if it ever comes back in stock) or a pair of self powered speakers with a budget of 300
Preferably something with a small form factor like the Kanto Yu2 - looks good, small size, great color selection, under budget, good connectivity selection
I also liked those edifiers R1700BT, but might be too big
Not a big fan of the iLouds, don’t think they look that great.
Have you considered the vanatoo t0 for powered? Very nice speakers for the price.
They’re 360 on Amazon atm, a bit out of budget
Used ok?
WOW lol thank you. I wasn’t even aware of this website
Would you recommend powered speakers over passive?
Both can be good depending on your situation (I dont think theres a clear winner anymore)… limited desk space or a minimalist approach then powered is nice… upgrading or switching out gear then passive is good… a passive option would be micca rb42 paired with the ad18
I agree. I use the SMSL AD18 with the passive RB42. Powers them very well, and has EQ fratures, as well as very good bluetooth connection if you want that.
Now guys, someone is selling a pair of Klipsch R41M’s for 135 near me. Should I do it or save my money and go for the miccas?
I don’t have any experience with Klipsch before so idk how good of a deal this is, but I do like how they look so… Any advice?
Hmmm, how much are the miccas for you again? You would still need something like the pa3 or ad18 to power them (or that smsl Bluetooth amp)
They’re $150 for me
Hmm, both are pretty nice speakers, I tend to prefer the more low end heft of the micca, but if you want more interesting treble I would say try the Klipsch
For near field use what is the consensus on what is the best stereo speaker amp to power these? At the moment I am using a SA-98E which has IMHO to much power for what I use these speakers for.
Topping pa3 works well with these
that’s what I was looking at getting, I just wasn’t sure it was the best choice hell I am not even sure what all choices are available options.
Myself and a few others here use this… the trouble is the rb42 needs power and the pa3 delivers
I’ll pick up a pa3 then at some, point. Just need to convince myself that the 100 bucks is worth the side grade. also need to find someone who wants to buy my used sa98e
does your pa3 have an audible hiss when sitting close to the speakers? I was doing some digging into that amp and it was mentioned as a problem that it had.
