🔷 Modhouse ARGON MkIII

MDR-7506 if you don’t have them. They’re bassy treble and mids that are clear but not prominent.

Actually if you wanted to go that route, the mdr v6 is essentially a bassier version of the 7506

The MDR-7506 sets a standard. If a high end headphone can’t sound better than that for mids or highs… they go in the trash/refund.

So out of curiosity, are there any documented instances (video or forum posts) of someone dismantling the Argons to see what is done inside – even at the high level? I figured there would be but I can’t seem to find anything.

All the dampening material is glued on which is probably why no one has taken them apart

Did you ever end up trying suedes on the t50 Argons? I really like the comfort side of suede, wondering how it compares sound wise to the proteins

Yes it’s slightly more neutral in comparison to the proteins. Bass is tighter, treble is a bit sharper. Suedes were my favorite for the argons. Extremely soft and more breathable

Awesome, this is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Argons as a closed back can sound great, but a bit more treble energy and less bass dominance would make them a better all rounder. Thanks m8!

Thoughts on Heresy vs Asgard 3 for this and the p1s?

Well imo you would want to get the a3, as both thrive on power, and the a3 delivers

Yup, no contest there lol.

Asgard 3 came in, as of now my amp is more expensive than any of my available headphones lol. What would be a good companion to the argons to take advantage of the power of this amp in the price range? Was looking at Sundaras but the build quality has be concerned. And the Elex having their clipping issues makes me wary as well.

The sundara would be a pretty nice pairing, with the new batches qc isn’t really a big issue form my experience (older hifiman are the ones that had issues)

The elex is a higher tier headphone imo, would be pretty nice if you have the budget for it (the clipping only occurs if you have it at extremely loud levels or if you try and boost the bass way too much through eq or something)

What music are you listening to?

Lots of hip hop, alt rock, synth pop stuff, and orchestral/accoustic stuff, such as duel of the fates/ Rodrigo Y Gabriela.

Congrats on the a3 it’s a pretty sweet amp… I’ll second the lack of qc issues on the new sundara and they pair really nicely with your amp

Sir dx3 pro old version aptx or new LDAC … well dx3 pro can power argon

I have a DX3 Pro v2 (LDAC). I hear people saying it will power them well, but at 50 ohms, the DX3 Pro is only going to put out 750mW per channel. I think I heard @ZeosPantera say to feed them 8W per channel… Seems crazy, but what do I know?
I have a pair of HD 6xx, which I really like for their clarity in the mids. I’d really love a pair of these for their bass extension and soundstage. If the DX3 Pro is all I’ve got, would it be smarter to upgrade amp/dac before or after getting Argons? Or will my DX3 Pro be fine long-term? I really love the little guy. It drives my HD 6xx and plays well with my Kali LP-6 powered monitors, but I really want to experience these Argons.

I think it was xduoo xd-05 plus video where he retracted that statement… I don’t have experience with the argons but the xduoo is 1 watt if that helps

I keep thinking about these headphones. I still have the t50rp i never sent in to modhouse. I now got the Arya and the Autuer as well as the Elex and Avia. Fostex ebony. Sennhieser hd600 and meze 99, 1more triple. is there a space in my collection for these?
