I ordered my Argon balanced in case I ever wanted to use them balanced. Do they work like normal if I use them in a regular unbalanced amp?
The stray peaks made my brain bleed, so I knocked them down a bit.
Here is my EQ-profile for the ZMF Oval proteins:
To my ears (and brain) this is the preferred response.
Xduoo Xa-10 ordered looking forward to revealing how this pairs with my new Argons later this year when they arrive
I wonder if theyāre still of good value today. I do love a fun tuning headphones, my current go to fun headphones is grado hemps. Should I attempt to grab a pair of argon mkIII as well? Can anyone share more?
Mine are being shipped now after a 5 months wait, pretty excited
Iāve been using stock t50rp with ZMF band/Dekoni pads for the past half a year. Even though Iāve better headphones, these are just so comfortable and lightweight.
I just recently got my T60 Argons and am Loving them! I am currently wearing them right now and have been every day since I got them.
Currently going laptop to BF2 to Schiit Loki to Little Dot MKIII (med. Gain) to T60 Argons. GREAT, full, bassy sound.
If the T50ās are similar to the T60ās, you are in for a real treat!
As a bit of a follow upā¦
I spent yestersay and today listening to my T60 Argons and CFA Cascades. I like them both, but they are VERY different. I drifted a bit, but the spent the majority of the time with:
Laptop to BF2 to iFi Pro iCAN, balanced to Argons and SE to Cascades.
Went from new rock to classic rock to old pop (Neil Diamond!) and I ended up on a jazz player called, Nubya Garcia. I usually keep my jazz compartmentalized and only play it when in the mood. But with her, sheās on regular rotation with the rock.
First, unsurprisingly, the Cascades have WAY more bass! By a lot. Comparing these head to head the Cascades can come off a little aggressive in both bass And treble. I like it most of the time, but likely couldnāt wear them for a week straight. Fun and intense! One of my favourite three. On the Pro iCAN I couldnāt even use the bass boost, as it was too much.
When it comes to the Argons, the sound is a lot softer and rounder. The pads are Super comfortable and so is the sound. You could almost call them veiled compared to the Cascades, but they are not. It is just a smoother sound, but you still hear all the instruments. If you were going for heavy metal or hip hop, you would probably prefer the Cascades.
I really enjoyed these with Dave Matthews, Florence and the Machine, Seether, Foo Fighters and _Nubya Garcia. Pretty good on the classic rock too.
It is soft vs hard. Two very different experiences:
-
One is pounding on the door yelling, āLetās start the damn party now!ā Gonna be a fun night!!
-
Number two quietly knocks on the door and plans to stay a week. And you donāt mind at all as you let them in.
I really like both of these headphones and each one is very good at what it does.
@Marzipan for reference.
After more than enough research, I finally decided to buy! Now I have to trick myself into believing I never bought one and hopefully I get that sweet shipping notification in Nov.
Congrats. It is a long, long wait.
Well worth it though.
Been waiting for this comparison. Really satisfies the itch! Might have to consider a pair of t60 or t50 argons.
Have you tried the cloth pads for the cascades? They smoothed out the highs and adds some depth to the soundstage so everything sounds less in your head and a little more laid back but still thumping. Mids sound softer, less mid bass.
The dealer here in Canada never has the cloth and XL pads in at the same time! I do plan on getting both though.
Highly second thisā¦I didnāt realize just how awesome the highs and mid were on the Cascades until I switched to cloth pads with strongest filter
I still have not played with the filters.
So seeing if anyone knows when Modhouse will be back? May was last post on the website.
8/16/21 - Now sold out. Please check back on 8/23/21 at 10am ET.
I just bought one off Head-fi. I just couldnāt wait. I love them very much. Iād say the Fostex is my main favorite brand but my 1266 TC is my overall favorite. Fostex gets my favorite for having enjoying the majority of their headphones.
Hi there, im thinking about these as an upgrade from my ageing m50x. Im looking for advice on a portable amp. wold the btr5 or 3k do the job. sorry Im new to headphone things so let me know if its a silly question.
Thanks
whats your budget?
