Modhouse T60rp Argon

And they are having Black Friday sales.

Christ thats pricey for a DAC ($490 for SU-9). Its like $200 above the amp its suppose to be paired with.

I’m really eager to compare the Magni 2 to the LP.

I don’t think it’s too bad at all. I paid about $250.00 for an SMSL SU-8 one to two years ago. And I think the custom colours are Very cool. I liked their stuff back then, but no USB was a deal breaker for me.

But you can try a Modi and see how you like it. It certainly is a lot cheaper.

Isnt it the Geshelli J2 that didnt have USB? Not sure if i got those mixed up or you did.

None of their DAC’s had USB. Even now it’s a $50.00 option. $300.00 doesn’t sound bad to me.
Of course there are cheaper Chinese options.
And there is the Modi.

Your lucky day perhaps. Now the 2 options are closer in price

Is it really that good for fps games?

i really really like them for fps. i have dt880’s 600ohm as well. the dt’s a little more precise, but have a much smaller stage.

Have you compared them to argon mk3 ? Also what fps games do you play?

How is their detail retrieval? Also how do they compare to argon t50rp mk3 and zeus?

T60RP Argons arrived, 15 weeks after ordering. Emailed twice, once on week 13 just politely asking for a rough ETA, and then again on week 14, which they already had it ready to go. Very happy with Modhouse!

Only have them hooked up to the Magni 2 right now, still waiting on the Liquid Platinum and Geshelli J2. Probably going to be 2-3 weeks for the J2 (Order form only says estimated 15 business days for shipping) - the LP should get here tomorrow, along with cables from Hart Audio for the Argon.

They are insanely comfortable and i’m extremely impressed off the bat. Don’t have a ton of time to dip in and do side by side comparisons yet.

Playing Halo Infinite was impressive, but I didn’t do any A/B with my 6xx or Nighthawk Carbons. Reluctant to spend too much time comparing on my Magni 2.

How are the dynamics and instrument seperation on these?

I would also like to know this

They are good for FPS, but I don’t reach for them when I do play FPS. For that I use my He400i 2019 editions that I pad swapped. The argons have better sound placement for sure, but due to how open the 400i’s are I find them to edge out the argons. I would say that the 400i’s are neutral bright, light and airy good for vocals. where as the argons are very neutral V shape and are not airy but thick and fun.

Argon owners. How would you say these headphones stack up to others in the price range?

Hard to answer as sound wise they blow most anything in there cost price bracket away. But there is a few issues, in that supply is low and there is a massive waiting period to get a set built. IIRC Ryan makes them as a side gig and its just him and his wife. And there sound flavor is very different from most other items in there price bracket so one can’t say the Argons just sound better.

What other headphones have you used previously just for reference?

Meze 99 noir, HE 400i 2019 ed, ATH-M40x, and Night Hawks.

I really like them. They are a keeper and a really good value. They require a good amount power and really like bass boost.

I am in Canada and the landed cost was very close to what I just paid for some Elegia’s.

I have the Schiit Heresy which is one of the amplifiers that they actually recommend for the Argons. The gigantic pads and headstrap are drawing me in.
