Couldnât say, maybe you do if your studio is quiet enough and youâre not into blasting your ears for no reason. And also when checking how it will sound to the quiet-listening consumer.
I donât expect it would be too much for me based on the graphs, I was just commenting on some disagreements that I thought were easy to solve with well-known physics and perceptual science.
For how long these equal-loudness phenomena have been known about youâd think every OS audio stack would have an automatic loudness compensation function, or at least every active speaker system with a DSP, but no - we only see it in some bluetooth speakers and the odd well-designed studio monitor here and there, like some Mackies and I think some Genelecs.
I guess I should buy dac & amp soon. My Dell XPS 13 has the microphone hiss sound 3 vs 4 poll audio jacks. my at2020 usb+ has a great build in dac but I need to step up my audio setup. I am currently thinking about good protable dac / amp combo like Z uses and also glued to his dap. It will be defiantly (<-- always confuse that word REEEE ) a device that has more a tight bass and more neutral so my can easily swap through my 3 pairs. Jubilee, ATH - E70 and MDH20. My next goal is to get a custom IEM from a German brand or if they F up like 1 other brand vision ears cologne (2 streamers hyped soooo hard and never used 1.2k ⏠CIEM ever).
Reporting my user experience over the last 4 days of use with my new NDH20âs. At first the sound seemed pretty flat and boring, I donât know if itâs because I used them mainly on my THX portable and that doesnât have quite enough juice to power it or what. But since then, I have put them on my EL stack and my darkvoice tubes and I am starting to realize what makes these so spectacular. The detail is great, the highs are never too much like my DT1990âs can be, and the comfort level is great. My only problem with them is the cords. The stupid stupid cords. 12ft long and permanently coiled, or self defense weapon tighter coiled and janky. No options for aftermarket cables and all hope is lost. But it canât be perfect.
There are options for normal cables. Go on amazon and look at cables for Sennheiser HD 6, HD 7, or HD 8. These use the same cable and there are companies making normal length cables for them.
Z has an other thread -> I think its about balanced mod <- and if you scroll up or in one of the videos I dont remember he showed a high end Audio Technica cable which got modified by removing plastic on the 2.5mm cable part and it looks good I would say. I would buy this one too someday⌠Cant find it. It is a custom or high quality cable. The only headphone I know is the M50x with 2.5 to 3.5 cable https://www.thomann.de/gb/audio_technica_ath_m50x_straight_cable_12m.htm?ref=intl&shp=eyJjb3VudHJ5IjoiZ2IiLCJjdXJyZW5jeSI6IjIiLCJsYW5ndWFnZSI6ImVuIn0%3D EU ONLY Try sanding it down then use it. the cable should be good quality from my experience but I dont know how it will translate to the NDH 20 sound quality
Thats the deadly cable Z talked about xD but sad. I walked my dog with 85°F I cant do imperial - worked well. This headphone doesnt heat up but can hurt my head / pull my hair ooof . Gaming 4h is sometimes hard.
Ordered, coming today. I bought Ananda at CanJam SoCal, and it has ruined everything else I own for me. Hoping this will be my high end replacement for DT770 250 for mixing and mastering.
So far, very nice. The things I was worried about were unjustified. Theyâre comfortable, not boring, and the coiled cable seems manageable. I can use these for more than just a studio tool.
I really like how isolating they are. Shouldnât have to turn up the volume as high when the air conditioning is running.
Real test will be a mix-off between these and DT770, which Iâm used to.
These things need a perfect seal! Even my thin armed glasses thin out the sound dramatically.
Something else Iâm noticing is reduced dynamics. This is another feature that makes this a great studio tool. I noticed this because in most songs, every instrument/element has the same volume. This was confirmed by listening to Mountains by Hans Zimmer, in which the crescendo is very mild compared to other headphones.
I noticed that the NDH20 can have a headband length of 4cm on one side. If one is 4 cm the other can only be 3.5 cm. I have pain wearing these over 30 minutes or less and I love symmety but I had to extemd the MDH a bit more from lets say 2.8 cm on both sides to 3.5 cm.
The Jubilee go to 6 cm and I need 4.5 cm on both sides. The beyerdynamic Custom Studio go up to 4 cm but I do not need that lengh because these are more comfortable. The Sennheiser win in comfortâŚ
Looks like your measurements might be at different points. On the left youâre measuring to the outside of the hinges, on the right youâre measuring to the inside.
I clarify - The photos are not completly shot in the right angle but I can confirm that if I swap the lengths and / or just would change the angle of the phone it would be 4 or 3.5mm ⌠on the outside. I messured it 3 times. The cable inside the band is shorter and the last 4 cm click on the band on one side wont be triggered. It also was midnight xD I was tired.
