🔷 Neumann NDH20

Yeah, the seal does matter here. The more people talk about these great cans the more likely pad alternatives are to come out of the woodwork. Thank you, @DMS for your part in that!!

Happy to report that this short cable works like a charm. Not the best quality but good length for taking this on the go…

These have been renamed to the “Sennheiser Pro Audio Studio Headphones” on Amazon… haha

:open_mouth:…Neuwaymann?..

Weird! But if you buy from Neumann you get a stand and a cable that’s about 5x too long.

I can also confirm that these do fit. However, they feel and look extremely cheap.

Do you think its good for competitive gaming ?

If your goal is to hear small details, like footsteps or distant noise, then yes. I had them on for one of my 8 wins so far this season in Apex Legends!

I put mine on eBay. These are fantastic headphones, but I just don’t have a need for a second closed back dynamic headphone.

What closed back do you prefer? And what made you prefer it over the ndh20?

Good question!! I ended settling on the Focal Elegia. It has what I perceive as a very balanced profile, excellent detail clarity and seperation, is very comfortable and looks good in public. It also retails for nearly twice what the Neumann’s do. Totally an unfair comparison!!

Really like my elegia, think it’s great. Well that’s good that you have something you like :+1: Thanks for your input

I’m actually getting pretty close to convincing myself to sell mine. Either that or switch to contact lenses. It’s really annoying to wear my glasses at an angle when I’m working on a song. That teeny breach in seal brings them below DT770 and Mobius (which just got a whole lot better with the new firmware). Only reason I want to keep them at this point is because they have the Neumann logo on them.

Thinking of these as my first proper set of headphone so quick question, how stupid am I?

It’s a bit pricey to get as your first “proper” headphones.

rather try beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 32 or 80 ohm or sennheiser Jubilee. If these are too cold or too much treble then you can sell these.

Ill look at the DT770, if it means anything I have 1More quads and had 280pros that broke. and already purchased a JDS labs ol dac and atom. also the problem with the jubliee is that I join the military in a few months so ill be in a barracks room therefore open headphones arent an option

I have both, 770 is much more comfortable and even though NDH 20 is built very well, 770 is built even better. For $50 less than NDH 20, 1770 is a direct upgrade from 770 and has a detachable cable.

Personally I would take the 770 250 ohm over the 1770 as I don’t really think the 1770’s performance up to par imo

Actually finding the best “closed” pair of headphones is a really difficult thing to discover. All high end headphones are designed to reproduce the best sound they can and you simply can’t do that without breathing room for the sound to travel in.

But closed back headphones are required for office environments where you simply can’t wear open back headphones

From the way I see it, from discussion above there is:
Focal Elegia (Or the Stellias)
Neumann NDH20
Beyedynamic dt770 (or dt1770)

I will also add to that list:
Final Audio Pandora IV
Audeze EL-8

Any other really good closed back headphones? Or is the list really small?

*I noticed that ZMF have just released the ZMF VÉRITÉ Closed which I really want to hear
