Isolation is pretty good on them lol. Probably nice for that application
A closed back headphone with good isolation seems to be one of the hardest things there is to design. If you find one you actually enjoy listening to, treasure that. Donāt let Max Settings or anyone else rain on your parade. Sound signature preferences are as individual as snow flakes. So his preference is different from yours ā his loss, your gain.
Got a pair on Ebay for $225ā¦ look forward to seeing how they sound. =)
Thatās a very good price (suspiciously so)
I thought so tooā¦ but seller has good ratingsā¦ so weāll see. Thought it might have something to do with the ā20ā missing from the titleā¦ this does not show up anywhere near the top if you type in ndh 20
If thatās the case you got a great deal.
Iāll keep you guys posted and let you know if it ended up being a scamā¦ lol >_>;
Hi guys I want you to inform you that I probably will sell my NDH20 because I need sparkle in my music with good bass (closed set because immersion gets killed by most sounds directly). The DT1770 Pro won the game and currently the NDH20 are not not even 400ā¬ woth. If anyone in EU wants to buy them just PM me. In the next 2 weeks I will sell these if Half LIfe 2 sounds nearly the same with these vs my all time fav open headphones the Jubilee. Same sound test with Stalker (modded) and cant remember ā¦
I got the Neumanns, which I payed $225 from Ebay, todayā¦ They seem legit as far as I can tell. No issues with playback. So it wasnāt a scam?
Well dang, if it sounds ok thats a great score
So far so good. Looking through the sellers history, they only sell Senn gear from time to time (B stock?). All the NDH 20s they have sold have gone for $300 or less.
First impressions are good. Been listening to them for a couple of hours now. @ $500, I would probably audition and enjoy them for a while then sell them off, but for the price I got them, they may be worth holding on toā¦
Build quality is really nice on these, btw. But they are definitely ear crushers. Very enjoyable in terms of their tonality. I was thrown off by the cable coming out of the right sideā¦ and was wearing them backwards for the first half hour or so.
Recently bought these used as well.
I highlight this quote especially, but what youāre experiencing is what I found as well. Ear-crushing but surprisingly good sound. Enjoyable tonality as you put it. Cable threw me as well. lol
I paid a little more than you did ($275) but had the same feeling as far as initially thinking Iād be taking a listen and moving on. These will likely remain in my collection.
Looks like you got a good deal!
So thoughts on the Neumannā¦
- I did some ABing with the Elex and LCD2C for good measure after spending a day listening to them while working.
- Being closed back and single-ended ONLY puts them at a disadvantage, but despite that they measure up really well.
- I think their biggest strength is their tonality. They are tuned really well for enjoyment.
- I love the bass impact on these. They are VERY punchy, but VERY tight. Very good extension for a conventional dynamic driver style headphone. I think the very good seal and isolation helps with this.
- Treble comes through pretty strong, but itās a LITTLE bit grainy and congested in a typical closed back way. According to EQ charts, thereās a upper mid bass scoop, which I think helps separate mids and treble, and it sounds good/pleasing in practice.
- I prefer it over the LCD2C, which sounds a bit tonally uneven and unrefined in comparison. Maybe I should sell it off and upgrade to LCDX?
- Personally, I was able to get over the āear crushā feel of them. They are not the most comfortable, but comfort level is comparable to just about any IEM, IMO. You are going to feel pressure, but if you need isolation and low sound leakage, these work well and are more than bearable for extended periods.
- Theyāve definitely grown on me over the period of a day.
- Personally, Iād rank these #2 right now after the Elex. Dynamics of the Elex just helps open things up quite a bit more, and open back headphone makes things sound more natural and has similarly great tonality, which I love. NDH 20 has slightly more fun bass kick/thump though.
I donāt know if I would say being single ended is a huge disadvantage or anything, as long as you have a good single ended amp there shouldnāt be a problem
I have them currently ranked #2 in my collection as well (humble mid-fi collection in bio) which surprised me. I have them above the Elex because I enjoy them more. I do think Elex is the technically better headphone though. Enjoyed the analysis. Spot-on with my experience with them as well.
Rupert Neve RNHP, should do the trick.
NDH20s through the RME ADI2 has been my endgame for some months now and I have no desire to change anything.
P.S. I also own 4 cars all VW and Audi so I guess I just like the German way of doing things.
Nice, a setup worthy for both enjoyment and studio work
Also German car owner, just donāt seem to let me down (very often lol)
