No reason at all to be honest - My dislike of them comes from my dislike of some people I know who owns them. (I’m probably one of the most irrational people you would find on the internet some days)
Well that’s not very fair lol. Well it is up to you to decide what you like and dislike so more power to ya
Yeah I don’t hear anything he’s describing with these headphones… But you have to respect his point of view.
Agreed…maybe DMS and Zeos playing good cop, bad cop before RMAF? lol
and i’d take the Phantoms over 1060’s or Sundara’s all day long.
So what are your thoughts?
Take the foam under the earpads off, as well as the mesh thats glued to the grilles
I was about comment on that! Read my mind…
These things have proper potential but stock they sound a bit muffled to me - Full disclosure, I did have a long Grado session last night though.
Modding shall happen later tonight indeed! (I might actually first see what they do on EF92 Mullard hybrid tubes)
Edit: Should be easy as my one ear cup only has 1 screw…
I’m hoping to help some people out with the supposed wiring issues being discussed… I removed the grilles and foam on my headphones and noted the orientation and position on the wires, including the placement of positive and negative leads. I found that on the driver units, the “Left” terminal is the Negative and the “Right” terminal is the positive. The left terminal is wired to the jack casing, and the right terminal is isolated from the casing all together. I’ll include some pics.
So, if you have one driver with the left terminal wired to the housing, and one with the left terminal wired to the positive post, you will have a phase issue.
I hope this helped out!
EDIT: Please be aware that your 2.5mm jack could be reversed, so make sure you know the placement of the positive and negative posts on it.
(Your left wire should be soldered to the case on the 2.5mm jack on both left and right drivers)
That’s annoying… I also don’t understand why they’re using two wires when it doesn’t look like there’s any second connection or shielding there? Am I right?
I commented this on the video, but it’s really too bad he didn’t address the large consensus that people love these, even if it comes with a few mods. Not opposed to the alternate viewpoint, I dug my grave even before Z’s review came out lol, so I’ll be okay if they don’t live up to the hype, but I do wish he had tried to explain the discrepancy more.
He spent less than 24 hours with them before giving the review
Yeah I think he was massively biased here. Would love to know the reason why. Maybe something to do with the Takstars he will be reviewing.
It seems that the engineers thought that twisting the positive and negative leads separate from one another would reduce EMI… Well thats not the case. The only time twisted wires reduce EMI is when you twist the positive and negative leads together, thus making a twisted pair. I think they incorrectly implemented a “twisted pair” design into the wiring without knowing how it actually works.
Either that, or for the a e s t h e t i c
please send a picture of your 2.5mm jack and wires after “fixing”
Your’s are wired correctly. No need to panic
Thank you so much! How can you tell?
Lol yeah I think they just don’t understand twisted pairs
Read my post above…
Thank you again. The way I understand it is the inside of the 2.5mm end is positive and the outside of the 2.5mm end is negative.
