How do you know what end is which or the driver side?
On all Phantoms I’ve seen, plus on my own, The left terminal always gets wired to the casing on the 2.5mm jack. That means that it must be the negative.
Spent longer than that. Used them a fair bit out of town also but wanted to wait to film a review till I could confirm my theories in the quiet of my home.

No I just genuinely find them to be unacceptable for their price. No excuse for it in 2019.

Fair - Did you try them without the grills? I just took off the fabric they glued on like @ConnorG suggested and it does open them up a bit.
I did try them open and with a large variety of pads.

Ok so the foam is out and the materials are pulled off - still a bit muffled to me. What else can I try?
I like the low end (could be because this is my first set of planars) but I’m not blown away.
My little dot 1 opens them up but then kills the bass.
It definitely want’s to perform - just feels like something small is holding it back…

Some people call it snake oil, but I let mine burn in for about 30 hours… I’m waiting on others to crucify me for recommending this

They’re different, The hybrid one is the better one among the stock pads. Look inside the rim one has perforated leather.
Brainwaves xl are good too
