Ive used the Little bear and the E1DA too but the M11 is my choice for most versatile option. Oppo HA1 and also RPi with IQAudIO DIgiAMP+ hat should also do well but I have yet to try them with the P1 or Phantoms. THX 789 is coming too.

well. this is the time to write my experience with the phantoms so far.
have them for almost a month.
first impression was horrible, super uncomfy and muffled sound (but still detailed though)
the stock form was really bad so after a couple of days i started to mod them and burn them properly.
i tried a lot of things with the foams but i ended up removing all the foams -
the ones beneath the ear pads ( the foam was causing the discomfort issues btw)
and the 2 pieces of foam under the metal plate.
the sound was significantly better and clearer and more detailed. (removing the foam under the ear pads was the biggest improvement to the sound so far )
ill make it quick, the “for now” phantoms version of mine is moded this way -
no foam at all. ( under the pads and the metal grill)
stock hybrid kinda ear pads
little bit boosted the mids for my taste with eq ( not a big deal, sound great even without)
and please burn them well for at least 50 hr, make a huge difference

ill describe their sound now after i mention what i did.
with the stock pads the soundstage is a bit narrow but that’s how i like it . very detailed sound, these are a dark sounding headphones, i like it, it feels like the sound is fuller and rich but sometimes it feels not as clean as i want to .
bass - well i am not a bass head so i have plenty of bass (switching the pads does improve the bass details but reduce the hit affect )
mids - great, not forward, very detailed, i wish the separation of the vocals was better.
highs - good, not as bright , never felt like it was harsh in any way.
i bought the brainwavz xl prefotared, and it surely made the soundstage wider, cleaner, and i certainly sure more details but im still not using them over the stock because of the wider soundstage and it feels like they are taking away something that makes the sound feel less rich, taking away from the darkness of the headphones too much.

so, yea, i am not the best at describing sound , sorry about it  pretty new to all of these and because of all the modding and experimenting i learned a lot.
i could not compare these to any other headphones cause i i only head the hd58x before.
i came from the hd58x and i think this was a bigger jump then i expected, the phantoms are not the headphones to just plug, play and ejnoy, oh no, its been a month of modding and experiencing every single day how can i make them better. these are a great headphones overall but only after a hard work.
so im not done yet modding them and im on the search for the right pads, want to get a little more sharp and cleaner sound like i get with the brainwavz xl but without lacking the dark sound so much.
thank you for reading and feel free to ask me any question ( hope i can help).

I now run my Phantoms all foam removed including the the mesh on the Brainwavz pads themselves, after a lot of messing (months lol) I replaced the weird mesh on the grills (controversial I know) which I find gives me the best of worlds, a slightly darker closed in sound without sacrificing any detail…I also have a 3mm thick circle of foam I pop inside the pads if I want a slightly more laid sound as I don’t eq…maybe worth a try :+1:

Edited because I want to post a pic but get this notification wtf is that all about… “Sorry, the file you are trying to upload is not authorized (authorized extensions: jpg, jpeg, png, gif).”…all my other pics i’ve ever posted on here have been taken on the same iPhone!!!

well im certinly gonna try a lot of things, might try this as well  also i ordered like 3 weeks ago a 3 mm foam but still not arrived, right now i think the biggest improvment i could get is by chaining the pads. there’s a sell on brainwavz so i might oreder 2 more pads to try - the hybrid and the micro suede, really wanted to try out dekoni pads but they are a bit pricey for me now knowing that they might not sound as i wanted .

want just to add, i was so close to return the phantoms after a week of use, glad i heard the potential. i can see people easly order them and return them after a short period of time, these headphones sure need some love and patient and not everybody can give it.

Yep they’re defiantly female…take a lot of hard work and figuring out but worth it in the long run lol.

female, well you got it right man

btw, anyone runs them balanced? really want to try it sometime when i save the money to upgrade to a balance amp, is it worth to run these balance?

I run mine balanced with the powerdacV2. More detail and cleaner sound. The app Eq is amazing if u want to tweak them a bit. The cans take it well. Take this with a grain of salt cause my other amp was the topping nx4. In any case I’m very happy with the pair to the extent that I’m not considering any more purchases in that regard. Instead I’m allocating that money (was gonna buy a balanced dac and headphone amp) to buy a decent 2.0 stereo system.

For 60 bucks the powerdacV2 is amazing for the Phantoms in my opinion.

Worth it imo… funny as i’ve not run them unbalanced for a while, so just done a quick back to back, the cable that comes with them is good but going balanced opens out the sound a tad giving more space without losing any of that focus, bass seems to be more controlled too, tighter so to speak and remember they like to be driven so balanced helps with that depending on your amp.

I do same. Did my review with PowerdacV2 mostly without noticing. Great pairing. I got my custom grills coming soon.

When I upgrade my phone to new iPhone I wont have 3.5mm jack out. What blutooth device should I buy for connecting 3.5mm jack in my truck?

Anyone here considering jumping on the Sendy drop?

I got in a black cable from Periapt for the Phantom a couple days ago, and while it is a really nice cable, I don’t think the stock cable is so shit I should hear a difference between them.

I just realized that I had sent FBizzle this almost two months ago, but hadn’t posted about it here. In late August I had been talking with FBizzle about replacement grills and ended up replicating the Phantom grills in Fusion360 and getting them made through TreatStock with a reddish wood filament so they could compliment the wood cups better. Never had anything 3D printed before, but I quite like how they came out

just want to update. so right now im with the xl preforated brainwavz pad + the 5 mm thick foam that was originally under the pads.
just amazing match, got the comfort and the extra sharpness of the brainwavz but still the foam keeps it little bit more dark and focused without being muffled at all.
even need less eq with this combo.
tested it for about a week to make sure it sounds that good
right now really want to upgrade to balance dac and amp but it is such a pain to pick a dac knowing ill probably upgrade to tidal mqa soon.
