Brainwavz micro-suede or micro-suede-gel are very nice, maybe the best of the XL’s.
Standard is very airy, mid bass happy and the gel is more sealed in with perhaps some more sub bass kick. The gel is one of my personal faves, have suggested they venture into an angled XL pad.
Have been testing the oval zmf’s on my Vibrolab too!

“My best guess as to what zeos’s review is gonna be:
A lot of hand waving where he tells how amazing the build quality is and how nice the box is. He will then cover the pad material whether it’s a good pad or not. He will then tell you what pads he liked and whether prefers the stock pads or not. And because this reviewer and z have very similar tastes in iems I assume they like basically the same sound signatures so I’m gonna guess zeos is gonna be like " these are amazing and if these aren’t out of stock before I upload this to YouTube I would be shocked” and then another 20 minutes of rambling about dac / amps he’s tried them on and repeating how much he likes them. Comparing them to thing like the m1060 and the sendy aiva "

Any finding shipping from linsoul being slow? I ordered on July 25th, emailed them a few days ago and got this reply:
"Thank you so much for your order. We are currently checking our headphone before we can ship it out to you.
From our schedule, we can ship it out these days and once it has been shipped out, we will update you the tracking number.
Thank you so much for being so patient."

I ordered on the 23rd of July .
They sent me back an email Saturday ,they should be shipping this week.
It was a new batch made ,this why the delay .
Original 1st batch was only 200 from what I heard .

I did put a guesstimate of the thickness in my dimensions post, circa 1.5mm no thicker than 2mm I reckon 
Thickness up date the M1060C closed open grill mod are 1.5mm thick so I’d be inclined to say the Phantoms are too
I think mine were from the first production run and took just under 3 weeks to arrive after placing the order, I guess from all the positive reviews and feedback they’re probably struggling to keep up with orders?

I ordered mine on the 8th and haven’t gotten any updates since… I’ve emailed asking for updates and tried the ‘chat’ on the linsoul website, but haven’t heard back from them yet. Hopefully they ship out soon! My THX 789 just shipped yesterday so I’m gettin’ antsy!

Anyone else tired the grill removal mod? I originally tried it and wasn’t that impressed, but with all this “they sound better sans grills” I might give it another go?
Ordered today, based on the chat Linsoul says they are shipping out this week.
On BGGAR he said his unit did not have the foam behind the earpads, ZeosPantera didnt mention if he removed his or did I miss him saying he did?

This is the comparison I was looking for as well but apparently no one has ever considered it.
I’ll let you know when I get my phantoms. Since there are no frequency graphs of the phantom its a total mystery to me, but they say its non fatiguing. What I dont totally love about the 4XX is the highs get too sharp for my ears at least for music. For videos it generally great.

He kept the foam. Only thing he did was remove the grills.

Hopefully he checks this thread or tries it himself and makes an update video on his modding progress.
I should have made a more detailed reply. On patreon, I asked him that question too, since he didn’t mention the foam behind the earpads in the video, and he said to keep the foam there. He said the tuning was fine and it is the grills that are the issue.

Did anyone on the Patreon happen to ask ZeosPantera’s take on the Phatoms vs the Hifimans he just reviewed (Edition XX, Arya) or to other planars aside from M1060s? It would be awesome to see comments vs He4XX and Sundara.

Yeah, the Sundara would be a good comparison since they are in the same price range.
