I have heard them all, but r3 saber. I did own r5 saber tho. I will PM you.
I have a Creative Sound BlasterX G6. I think it is a good product in terms of sound&functionality/price, but the software is acting up all the time. It always changes itâs settings. Sometimes when I connect an IEM, it just outputs ear deafining static noise that makes me hope the IEM didnât just got obliterated. I canât use the microphone while in âno dspâ mode.
On one hand I would like to say it is very unreliable, but on the other hand to me it often seems, that everything with some kind of processor inside it is unreliable. My mainboard has a whole range of issues, and I already bought the best one on the market (everthing else is even worse).
I have no issue with my other pc parts, and even some apps from letâs say hp (for my printer) arenât that bad. But Creative applications? Yeah, it sucks.
Yeah, I will pass on it. Especially since I have B1 incoming and just received the Cayin.
I have both, KL is wider and sounds smoother. Tea2 has better fit and isolation. Only complain I have for KL is the fit, but soundstage is better. Both are 3D.
when you say sources are about preferences you mean feature wise or sound wise ? if it is sound wise does it mean you hear differences between sources in a blind test ?
Everything.
On amps yes, between dacs no, unless some weird technology is kicking.
so you use amps to color iem sound ? do you use it as a tuning tool to add variety to your listening experience on a given iem ? what difference with getting the pleasure of variety from using different iems ?
about the interest you show in playing with a variety of colored amps to add variety to your listening experience (like we change coffee beans to avoid a brain burn in with always drinking the same coffee and keep it an exciting renewed sensation): can different digital equalization profiles provide this variety of listening experience by trading off the analog quality result of colored amplifcation for the rich flexibility of switching subtle variations in eq profiles with a simple click in the UI ?
Using amps to get a sound signature is not knew to the hobby. The straight wire with gain has always been an illusion. Tubes have different distortion usually even numbered while SS tends to odd numbers. That is an example. I owned both when I used speakers.
headphones/IEMs- can sound the same or completely different
amps- can change the sound slightly and should never have issues (besides tubes with certain headphones/IEMs)
EQ- if you know what you are doing and the headphone has the capability you could do anything from small changes to greatly changing the sound
most people that donât EQ usually have lots of different gear they use so EQ is more of a hassle than just changing what gear is used
KZ CRN and CCA CRA+
Despite a slight delay, insane express shipping as always by Linsoul. Time to give these a spin. Will be back later with some thoughts.
Sorry for the very late response, but Iâve been busy at work as hell.
In my opinion, sources are worth aroud the last 5% on a chain, and I love sources, thatâs why I do it. They bring something else to a set I already love. I donât usually match sources to IEMs, unless they interact in some say (PEQ on Q5k, low OI on RSV, etc).
I donât consider them the same, but thereâs no rights and wrongs. For instance, the analog sounds I get from Cayin RU-6 I canât reproduce by EQing, but thatâs a drop in the ocean. You use whatever sounds good to you. I give recs on sources when asked, but I never say you should get XYZ if you wanna enjoy ABC iem. You might see me saying âyou need more horse powerâ or âlow OI baseâ, but usually do whatever pleases you.
And yes, I believe in power to an extent. Like HBB said in his Moonriver 2 vid, âPower is like money, you always should have more than you needâ.
@nymz quick question: Do you have the apple adapter and have you ever compared it against the NX7? I would love to hear your thoughts if you can hear a difference, how big it is and how you would characterize it. (specifically for IEMs, if that wasnât obvious in the first place)
I have the EU one. Not enough power. On some sets you have zero headroom or even enough volume.
NX7 is dead clean and on the brighter side, giving you the the sense of more air and separation. It can literally power planar headphones without a sweat and has negative gain for more sensitive IEMs. Its a hell of a product and I have to rec it all day long as long as you are fine with topping house sound. The batery is also great.
Comes out with a con: it needs a dac on the chain.
Are you aware of the fact that the apple dongle doesnât properly work with Android? If I use it (also EU version) with HiBy Music app, which has dedicated USB drivers (not the default Android ones), my hardest to drive IEMs like the ThieAudio Oracle and 7hz timeless reach the pain threshold at 50%-65% volume.
Same on Windows PC
Yes, I am.
Just got my Chu a few hours ago and oh ma gawd RIP every other IEM around $100 besides the Olinas Prefer this way more than the Starfields and Aria⌠itâs giving me ER2XR vibes.
Also this build quality tho⌠metal AND comfy AND spring tips for $20?? Moondrop really killing it with this release. Amazingly tuned. Hard rec no brainer.
Value: S+
Initial impression: B
Itâs value king. Now they should just do a pro version and add 2pin connectors and we gucci.
Now whatâs an upgrade from Chu? Meaning same tonality with better tech
