Itās funny you say S8 because I had one on loan and I A/B Chu and S8 and to be honest I could not justify the price of the S8. Chu is so close.
The stage and imaging are not that great on S8 for the price, I was expected to be blown away but I was not.
I hear Blessing as timbre issue which is a no go for me.
Iām okay waiting for new releases

Ya moondrop IEMs have very good tuning and detail, but their imaging and staging needs work when compared to the Teas and EJs of the world. Thereās also some coherency issues with the S8. Chu is definitely a winner tho for sure

Reminescent of Tanya where thereās some on your back action but then proceeds to murder frontal presentation.
Yosi Horikawa - Bubbles
No width, everything is inside your head and never crosses it.
Separation is butchered due to this.
Tuning
Agnes Obel - The curse
Her position is wrong, Serial fails to position her in front/above me. It has no height. Left/Right presentation and behind me.
Agnesā voice is wonky. Thereās no sense of micro dynamics and every note feels the same. The viola and cello sound like 1 note.
John Legend - All of me
His voice lacks detail but itās fine tuning wise. Stage so wonky that the reverbs towards the end of the track sounds like a voice off instead of a reverb effect - it is separated from John and harder than usual to notice.
Ghost-Note - Shrill Tones / Snarky Puppy - Tio Macaco
Good kickdrums - love that.
Separation is average to below average and dynamics are dead.
Cymbals are good.
Imaging chops butchered
Kendrick Lamar - Backstreet Freestyle
Incoherence? Bass seems slower than the mids.
Kendrick vocals feel outplaced even though the tuning should favor it?

Bloodbath. Sounds like a kilobuck when A/Bing. Dynamics feel like Iāve turned 4k after watching a video with 320p.
Something is wrong here. Changed cable, sounded the same.
No point picking up other stuff at this point. Something is wrong.

I thought the miss match would be very audible as it is. Penon should send you a pair that is right though it does bring up concerns of what you get if you bought. Good luck I am interested in a second opinion on a working pair.

I donāt understand polarity well, but isnāt an inverted/twisted stage the hallmark of reversed polarity? Maybe something was wired back to front? No idea really, trying to make sense of your experience and it came to mind. Thanks for sharing what you hear.
